‘The Sandman’ TV Series, released in 2022, was a surprise hit embraced by fans. Developed by Gaiman, Goyer, and Heinberg for Netflix and produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television, the show follows the story of Dream/Morpheus.

Starring Tom Sturridge in the lead role, with Boyd Holbrook, Vivienne Acheampong, and Patton Oswalt in supporting roles. Originally planned as a film adaptation in 1991, the project shifted to television after facing delays. Netflix acquired the series in 2019, with filming concluding from October 2020 to August 2021. Premiering with 10 episodes in August 2022, the series received positive reviews from critics, especially praising its casting, production design, loyalty to the source material, and performances.

In November 2022, the show was renewed for a second season, and fans have been eagerly anticipating it since then. Filming for the second season began on June 23, 2023, at Shepperton Studios but was stopped in July due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Production resumed on November 30, 2023, as confirmed by Gaiman.

Now, according to What’s On Netflix, the episode count for the second season has been leaked, revealing that it will consist of 12 episodes in total. The first season had 11 episodes.

Not much is revealed about the show’s plot, but we can expect to see familiar faces reprising their roles. Tom Sturridge returns as Lord Morpheus, also known as Dream, who embodies dreams and nightmares and rules over the Dreaming.

Additionally, Sturridge voices Dream’s black cat counterpart in the episode ‘Dream of a Thousand Cats.’ Boyd Holbrook played the Corinthian in the first season, a nightmare who escapes from the Dreaming. Vivienne Acheampong portrays Lucienne, the Dreaming’s librarian who cares for the realm in Dream’s absence. Patton Oswalt voices Matthew the Raven, Dream’s emissary, who was originally human but reincarnated as a raven by Lucienne.
