‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Finally Has a Release Date — Watch the Intense New Trailer Now
HBO’s hit series Euphoria is officially back, and fans finally have a date to mark on their calendars. The network dropped the full trailer for season three on Wednesday, revealing that the show will return on April 12. The new season skips ahead five years from where season two ended, giving viewers a look at the main characters as young adults.
Creator Sam Levinson shared some details about what fans can expect from the time jump. “Being out of the safety net of school is what the new season is about,” Levinson told Entertainment Weekly. He added, “The one thing we all agreed on is we can’t go back to high school—although many, many shows have had 30-year-old high school students, we’re not. Five years felt like a natural place [to jump] because if they had gone to college they’d be out of college at that time.”
The trailer shows major changes for the characters. Zendaya’s Rue is now in Mexico and dealing with drug dealer Laurie while in debt. Cassie, played by Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi’s Nate are engaged, living in the suburbs, and eventually get married. Hunter Schafer’s Jules is in art school, Alexa Demi’s Maddie works at a Hollywood talent agency, and Maude Apatow’s Lexi has a job as an assistant to a showrunner played by new cast member Sharon Stone.
Season three will also feature new faces, including Danielle Deadwyler, Eli Roth, Natasha Lyonne, Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch, Sam Trammell, and Asante Blackk. Returning cast members include Eric Dane, Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike, Nika King, and Colman Domingo. However, Storm Reid, Austin Abrams, and Javon Walton will not be back this season. Fans also continue to mourn Angus Cloud, who played the beloved Fezco and passed away in July 2023.
The wait for this season has been long. It has been over four years since season two premiered on HBO. The delay was due to multiple factors, including coordinating the busy schedules of the in-demand cast, Levinson’s work on another HBO series, The Idol, and reported tensions between Levinson and Zendaya, as detailed in a Hollywood Reporter cover story.
Season three promises to explore the challenges of life after high school and how the characters navigate adulthood. With a mix of returning favorites, new characters, and high drama, fans are eager to see how the story continues.
The time jump is a smart move for the show, letting the characters grow and explore new adult challenges. It will be interesting to see how Rue and the others change over five years. What do you think about the jump and the new cast additions? Share your thoughts in the comments.
