Warner Bros. Discovery has some great news, since James Gunn’s Superman hit theaters on July 11, lots of people are watching more DC shows and movies on HBO Max. According to Deadline, several popular titles have seen a big jump in viewers after the new film’s release.

Superman: The Movie starring Christopher Reeve had the biggest boost, with viewership jumping 332% compared to the week before.

Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel also did really well, becoming the most-watched Superman film on the streaming service last week with a 218% increase. Fans are also revisiting Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, which saw an incredible 1,206% rise in views.

The excitement isn’t just for movies. The DC series Peacemaker got a lot more viewers too, with a 91% increase for its first season just before Season 2 premieres in August.

Superman made a strong debut at the box office, pulling in $220 million worldwide by Monday thanks to a big audience in the U.S. James Gunn said he wanted the movie to be lighter and full of “the color and the joy” that reflects Superman’s original spirit.

Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios in 2022, and Gunn’s Superman film is the start of the new DC Universe phase called ‘Gods and Monsters.’ David Corenswet plays Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

The cast also features Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, plus Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Sean Gunn, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Isabel Merced, and Nathan Fillion.

With the new movie doing so well, fans are diving back into the DC world, making it a big win for Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO Max.
