Sadie Sink’s mystery role in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has been confirmed as Jean Grey, teasing Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot. Rumors had swirled around her casting for over a year, with Sink herself telling Entertainment Weekly last November that the Jean Grey chatter was already circulating before she even knew what project she’d been cast in.

Even with Jean Grey at the center of the film, the movie did not do much to explicitly set up the future of the X-Men, and neither Cyclops nor Wolverine appeared onscreen. Still, her introduction marks the character’s live action arrival within Kevin Feige’s continuity rather than the earlier Fox timeline.

Emma Frost

Samara Weaving is set to play Emma Frost in Marvel Studios’ new ‘X-Men’ movie, according to a report from Deadline. Director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige reportedly met with a number of candidates before landing on Weaving for the role.

The casting arrives during a big year for Weaving, who led ‘Ready or Not 2: Here I Come’ in the spring before following it with IFC’s ‘Over Your Dead Body,’ co-led opposite Jason Segel. Her casting is described as the first confirmed member of Marvel Studios’ new X-Men team, and a signal of the Mutant Saga’s long-game ambitions.

Weaving is now the first actor to officially be cast in ‘X-Men,’ which remains in the early stages of development without an announced release timeframe. Michael Lesslie and Jake Schreier were confirmed in 2025 as the reboot’s writer and director, before Joanna Calo and Lee Sung Jin were brought on to rewrite the script.

Mystique

No actor has been confirmed for Mystique, but ‘Obsession’ breakout Inde Navarrette has generated the loudest buzz. Navarrette reportedly loves the character for the prosthetics and makeup process, and she has previously been floated as a fan casting for Rogue as well. She is not the first name linked to the role either, since Hunter Schafer has reportedly been connected to Mystique for months as one of the more persistent rumors surrounding the reboot.

Neither actress has been confirmed by Marvel for the part. The only certainty around Mystique right now is that Rebecca Romijn is reprising the role in ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ out this holiday season, likely for the final time.

Beast

Charles Melton has emerged as the name most frequently attached to Hank McCoy. Reports originating from the insider account ApocHorseman claim Melton is set to play Beast, though Marvel Studios has not confirmed the casting.

Industry insider Jeff Sneider has separately reported that the ‘May December’ breakout is wrapping up a deal to be cast as Beast. Asked directly about reuniting with Schreier after their work together on ‘Beef’ Season 2, Melton said it does interest him and called the idea a dream.

Rogue

Cailee Spaeny has emerged as Jake Schreier’s reported top choice to play Rogue, following her work in ‘Priscilla,’ ‘Civil War’ and ‘Alien: Romulus.’ The same ApocHorseman report that named Melton for Beast claims both actors have closed deals for the reboot, with Spaeny cast as Rogue.

Sneider’s reporting adds that Spaeny is nearing the finish line for Rogue, part of a broader wave of casting speculation that also touches Cyclops and Professor X. None of these names have been acknowledged by Marvel Studios, and the studio has not set a release date for the film.
