Every ‘FBI’ Crossover Episode in Order, From the ‘Most Wanted’ Backdoor Pilot to ‘CIA’
Dick Wolf’s procedural universe has spent years weaving its teams together, and the FBI crossover episodes in order show how one CBS series grew into a connected world. The franchise now spans four series, ‘FBI’, ‘FBI: Most Wanted’, ‘FBI: International’ and ‘CIA’. Characters move between them often.
Some of these overlaps are multi-hour events, while others are a single guest appearance. This guide lists the major crossover episodes in the order they aired, with each episode title leading its section so viewers can follow the chronology without missing a case.
Most Wanted
The first link in the chain is the ‘FBI’ Season 1 episode “Most Wanted,” a backdoor pilot that aired on April 2, 2019. In it, OA and Maggie join the Fugitives Department to hunt a murder suspect who ends up on the Top 10 Most Wanted list.
The episode also introduced Supervisory Special Agent Jess LaCroix and his team, including Kenny Crosby, Hana Gibson and Clinton Skye. That group became the core of the spinoff, which debuted as ‘FBI: Most Wanted’ in January 2020.
After the spinoff launched, Alana de la Garza’s Isobel Castille appeared in its premiere, “Dopesick,” and again in “Caesar” later that month.
American Dreams
The first official two-part crossover aired on March 24, 2020, pairing “American Dreams” from ‘FBI’ Season 2 with “Reveille” from ‘Most Wanted’ Season 1. That season of ‘FBI’ ran only 19 episodes because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The story begins when a school bus carrying 26 elementary students is hijacked, which sends the agents into a race against time. In the second part, the Fugitive Task Force closes in on domestic terrorists while Tali is picked up in an ICE raid and sent to a detention center.
A week later, ‘FBI’ aired “Emotional Rescue,” which brought in Tracy Spiridakos as her ‘Chicago P.D.’ character. Hailey Upton was loaned to the team and partnered with OA on the murder of a college student tied to a drug deal gone wrong, which laid the groundwork for her leaving ‘Chicago P.D.’ to pursue a career with the FBI.
All That Glitters
The first three-part event aired on September 21, 2021, linking “All That Glitters” from ‘FBI’ Season 4, “Exposed” from ‘Most Wanted’ Season 3 and the ‘FBI: International’ “Pilot.” It launched the fourth season of the flagship series, the third season of ‘Most Wanted’ and the series premiere of ‘International’.
The action starts in ‘FBI’ with a murder after a yacht party, an injured agent in the hospital and a kidnapping that sets the investigation in motion. Over on ‘Most Wanted’, the manhunt intensifies as the team pursues the leader of a criminal enterprise.
The story concludes in Croatia on ‘International’, where viewers meet the Fly Team led by Supervisory Special Agent Scott Forrester. In the following weeks, ‘International’ episodes such as “The Edge” and “Secrets as Weapons” featured Jeremy Sisto and Alana de la Garza as guests.
Imminent Threat
The second three-show event aired on April 4, 2023, with “Imminent Threat, Part One” on ‘International’, Part Two on ‘FBI’ and Part Three on ‘Most Wanted’. The broadcast order was reshuffled that night, with ‘International’ at 8 p.m., ‘FBI’ at 9 p.m. and ‘Most Wanted’ at 10 p.m.
The story begins when the abduction of an American citizen in Rome reveals an international plot to carry out a mass-casualty terror attack in New York City. In the final hour, the ‘FBI’ and ‘Most Wanted’ teams hunt the fugitive terrorists as they close in on a plan to destroy a major New York landmark.
It was the first global crossover for Dylan McDermott, Edwin Hodge and Eva-Jane Willis. Speaking to The Root, ‘International’ star Carter Redwood described the earlier event as ending with the teams meeting and the new one as the moment when “now we start the three-hour event.”
Smaller guest crossovers followed, including a run of ‘International’ episodes in early 2024 such as “June” and “The Last Stop” that featured Jeremy Sisto.
Elimination Game
The newest chapter belongs to ‘CIA’. The spinoff debuted on February 23, 2026, right after ‘FBI’ returned with Season 8 Episode 11. Its pilot, “Directed Energy,” featured Jeremy Sisto and James Chen from the parent series.
The ‘FBI’ leads crossed over in “Elimination Game,” the seventh episode of ‘CIA’, which aired on April 13, 2026, with Missy Peregrym and Alana de la Garza appearing. Peregrym said the episode centers on the ‘CIA’ characters, with Maggie’s existing relationship with Bill providing the bridge to introduce Colin Glass.
Other crossovers include “Bridge of Lies” and “Deep Cover” on ‘CIA’, while “3 Up, 3 Down” brought Necar Zadegan to ‘FBI’ on March 30, 2026. Later ‘CIA’ episodes such as “Blood Money,” “Rare Earth,” “Forbidden Eye” and “Broken Glass” kept the exchange going through May.
More is on the way. Another crossover has been confirmed for the ‘FBI’ Season 9 premiere, with Zadegan returning as Nikki Reynard. Nick Gehlfuss has also voiced hope for a few two-hour crossover events next season. Which of these crossovers do you think set the standard, and would a full two-hour event pairing Colin Glass with Maggie Bell top it?
