Explosions and High-Speed Chases: Watch New Set Leaks From ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Set
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the next big superhero movie coming up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s the 38th film in the MCU and the fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland.
The movie is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, with a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Alongside Tom Holland as Peter Parker, the cast includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Mando.
Sony started working on this fourth Spider-Man film while still wrapping up No Way Home back in 2019. Producer Amy Pascal shared in November 2021 that this movie would kick off a new trilogy featuring Tom Holland as Spider-Man. Story development began at the end of that year. By February 2023, the original writers McKenna and Sommers were back on board, and by October 2024, Cretton was confirmed to direct. The title, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, was announced in March 2025.
Filming started on August 3, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland. The crew used the working title Blue Oasis during production. Brett Pawlak, who has worked with Cretton before, is the cinematographer for this film.
Production is taking place mostly around Glasgow’s city center, including Merchant City, George Square, and Trongate, which are doubling for New York City. These outdoor shoots will include a big action scene. Tom Holland expressed excitement about filming on location again, especially after most of No Way Home was shot on soundstages because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Photos & from the set in Glasgow show armored vehicles with red demon logos, explosions, etc, car chases, armored tanks invading the city. Some fans and critics think these could hint at the villain Mister Negative and his Inner Demons gang appearing in the movie. Alongside the location shoots, more filming will happen at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on July 31, 2026. It will be part of Phase Six of the MCU, continuing the story of Spider-Man and exploring new adventures with familiar and new characters.
