In January 2024, it was announced that ‘Until Dawn,’ a live-action film based on the video game, was being developed by Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions. David F. Sandberg is directing, with Gary Dauberman writing the script, based on an earlier version by Blair Butler. The movie is described as an R-rated tribute to horror with a big ensemble cast.

By mid-2024, actors Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Odessa A’zion, Maia Mitchell, and Belmont Cameli joined the cast. Peter Stormare, who played Dr. Alan J. Hill in the game, will appear as a new character in the movie.

The movie is slated for an April 25 release, and now several months ahead of the premiere first look was shared by the crew:

A year after her sister Melanie’s mysterious disappearance, Clover and her friends venture into the remote valley where she was last seen, hoping to find answers. They discover an abandoned visitor center but are soon hunted by a masked killer who brutally murders them one by one.

To their shock, they wake up at the start of the same night, forced to relive the horror repeatedly. Each time, the killer changes, becoming more terrifying. As their hope fades, the group realizes they can only die a limited number of times. Their only chance to escape is to survive until dawn.

Gary Dauberman, the writer and producer, expressed his excitement as a big fan of the ‘Until Dawn’ game. He aimed to capture its cinematic feel and find a way to continue the story while giving the audience an experience similar to playing the game.

As a huge fan of ‘Until Dawn’ game and how cinematic it was, I thought a lot about how we can continue the story and giving the audience the same experience that they were playing

Sandberg confirms that the movie will have the same vibe and tone as the game but with the needed universe expansion. Peter Stormare who portrayed Doctor Hill in the game confirmed his appearance in the movie and explained how very proud he is to take part in the game’s evolution to live-action.

A popular industry insider also shared one interesting rumor, Cryptic HD QUALITY, fans of the game were disappointed with the film during test screenings, but newcomers seemed to enjoy it a lot.

The cast of ‘Until Dawn’ features Ella Rubin as Clover, Michael Cimino as Max, Ji-young Yoo as Megan, Odessa A’zion as Nina, Maia Mitchell as Melanie, and Belmont Cameli as Abel.
