‘Fall 3’ Brings Back Grace Caroline Currey, and Becky Is Headed Back Into the Sky
Few recent survival thrillers have made audiences this afraid of heights. ‘Fall’, Scott Mann’s film about 2 friends stuck on top of an abandoned desert TV tower, became a word-of-mouth hit in 2022 and later took off around the world once it reached Netflix.
The ‘Fall’ franchise has had a bumpier ride since then. The sequel, ‘Fall 2: Deadpoint’, opened in theaters on September 2 with a new cast and a new setting, and it didn’t match its predecessor’s success. Even so, the series isn’t done, and the next chapter is going back to its roots.
Dread Central reported exclusively that Grace Caroline Currey will lead ‘Fall 3’, with filming planned for 2027. Scott Mann, who directed the original film, is also back in the director’s chair.
That makes ‘Fall 3’ a real homecoming. Currey played Becky Connor, a climber grieving her husband Dan after he died in a climbing accident. She was the emotional center of the first film, and her performance was among the most praised parts of it.

The first film followed Becky and her best friend Shiloh Hunter, played by Virginia Gardner, as they climbed a decommissioned 2,000-foot TV tower. Becky went up to scatter Dan’s ashes. When a broken ladder stranded the pair at the top, the movie became a test of nerves for anyone with a fear of heights.
Lionsgate released ‘Fall’ on August 12, 2022. It made about $21.8 million worldwide on a $3 million budget. Critics were mostly positive, with a 79% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviewers singled out Currey and Gardner’s performances, though some criticized the visual effects and screenplay.
Capstone Studios approved 2 sequels together in 2023. Mann was enthusiastic about expanding the story at the time. “I am thrilled to be continuing the Fall journey and taking it to the next level,” he said in a statement reported by The Hollywood Reporter, adding that he “can’t wait to be back filming thousands of feet up.”

The second film, directed by Peter and Michael Spierig, moved the action to Thailand’s Mount Kwan. Harriet Slater plays Jax Hunter, Shiloh’s older sister, alongside Arsema Thomas and Tom Brittney. The box office was modest: ‘Deadpoint’ opened to $2.3 million and finished with about $5 million in the U.S.
Mann and co-writer Jonathan Frank wrote both sequels back-to-back. According to Dread Central, Mann has said the third script is ready. In comments reported by iHorror, he described the story as one that “has to take three films together in a sense,” and said he’s still working out how to pay off certain storylines.
He also credited the Spierig brothers with pitching the setup that connects the sequels. That suggests the 3 films are meant to work as one larger story, and ‘Fall 3’ is set up to tie it all together, with Becky’s return at the center.
The ‘Fall’ films come from Tea Shop Productions, the company behind ’47 Meters Down’ and ‘The Surfer’. Producer James Harris also has credits on ‘Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City’, ‘Wrong Turn’ and ‘The Strangers: Prey at Night’. Survival horror is clearly the company’s specialty.
No plot details for ‘Fall 3’ have been revealed yet, and the shoot is still a year or so away. For fans who missed Becky in the second film, though, just having Currey and Mann back may be the best news the franchise has had in a while.
After the second film’s disappointing run, bringing back the original star and director looks like an effort to rebuild with what made the first film work. The original showed that a tiny cast, a single setting, and a lot of tension could turn a small movie into a global hit. Fans will now be watching to see whether Becky’s return can bring back that magic, or whether the series has already gone as high as it can.
