Fans Finally Get a Sneak Peek at the New Hogwarts in the Upcoming Harry Potter Show
The Wizarding World is getting a fresh start, and fans just got their first look at the all-new Hogwarts. Set photos from the upcoming Harry Potter TV series reboot are now making the rounds, showing that the magic is already coming to life again, this time for the small screen.
The photos were shared by Instagram user victoria-maclean, who managed to catch a glimpse of the new Great Hall while visiting the set. Through a small hole in a wall at the studio, she captured images of the massive structure, which is still under construction. Even unfinished, it’s clear the new version of Hogwarts is going big, with huge arches and physical sets instead of relying heavily on CGI.
It looks like the production is taking a more practical approach, building the locations for real instead of digitally creating them. Maclean also mentioned that Privet Drive is being built elsewhere on the Warner Bros. Studios lot in Leavesden, though she didn’t get any pictures of that area.
The new Harry Potter series is a full reboot of the original story. Warner Bros. Discovery announced it back in April 2023 during a press event for their streaming platform Max, which has since moved the show to HBO. Each season will cover one of the seven books, and the entire project is planned to unfold over ten years.
Author J.K. Rowling is involved this time as an executive producer. When the show was announced, she said, “I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long form television series.”
Talks about a series began as far back as January 2021, when Warner Bros. started exploring TV ideas for the wizarding world. By May 2022, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav had reportedly met with Rowling to talk about future projects.
More recently, the creative team was confirmed. On June 26, 2024, Francesca Gardiner was announced as the showrunner. Mark Mylod joined as director and executive producer, and David Heyman, who produced all eight of the original movies, is also back as a producer.
The cast was officially revealed in 2025. Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton is set to play Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout has been cast as Ron Weasley.
Even though the series is still filming and won’t hit screens until 2026, these early photos are already building excitement. Hogwarts is getting a fresh new look, but the heart of the story will remain the same. And with real sets being built and a team full of familiar names behind the scenes, the magic looks ready to return in a big way.
