A major crossover is coming to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft has confirmed that Solid Snake will join the game as a permanent operator. The reveal happened as the Six Invitational tournament reached its final stage.

This is the first time the game has added a character from outside the Tom Clancy universe. Ubisoft worked with Konami for about a year to make the collaboration happen. The character will be voiced by David Hayter, who is well known for playing Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series.

The addition is a big moment for fans because Snake will now exist in the same game as Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell. Many players have dreamed about seeing both stealth icons in one place, and now it is official.

Ubisoft says the new operator is designed for stealth and intel gathering. Snake will use the Soliton Radar MKIII to detect nearby enemies. The tool also alerts opponents when it is active so the feature stays balanced. He will carry a suppressed TACIT .45 sidearm and several primary weapon choices. Snake can also use gear dropped by defeated enemies, giving him more flexibility during matches.

Creative director Joshua Mills shared his excitement about the project. “Solid Snake is incredible. Just as a developer, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And I can’t stress that enough. It’s beyond Snake as well. It’s the fact that we can have Snake and Sam together. It’s like the most nerdy dream possible, and it’s amazing.”

He also explained the role Snake plays in a team. “As a player in the game and seeing how he fits in the Siege, I’m super excited about that because he kind of comes in as an in-game leader sort of operator. Amazing at getting intel, helping people get into the building, but then being essentially that infiltration specialist.”

Ubisoft also teased a special Metal Gear themed event for the 2v2 mode. The trailer showed characters like Meryl Silverburgh, Cyborg Ninja and Revolver Ocelot. More details about the event will come later. The new operator will arrive in Season One of Year 11.

This crossover feels like a big step for the game. Bringing characters from other franchises could open the door to more collaborations in the future. It also shows how long-running games keep players interested with new ideas. What do you think about Solid Snake joining Rainbow Six Siege? Share your thoughts in the comments.
