Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3, still remembered as probably the best Far Cry game and one of the best first-person shooter games, was released in 2012 on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, and it was re-released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2018. Although the latest Far Cry installment – Far Cry 6 was recently released, many fans agree that Far Cry 3 is still the best one, particularly because every other Far Cry game that was released after used the same formula, which made new games too repetitive.

One of the main reasons that Far Cry 3 was such a huge success was its main villain Vaas Montenegro. Michael Mando provided the voice and motion capture for the villain that’s still recognizable on the famous cover of the game. Critics praised Mando’s performance and how well-written Montenegro was. Although he played the role only in that one game, Mando is still remembered mostly only for it. Now, Mando revealed that he would like to make a movie centered on Vaas Montenegro.

“I have been thinking about it for a while. I spoke with Ubisoft in Italy a few years ago. We had coffee and I told a couple of ideas that I had for a film. And I have a couple of really great ideas I spoke about with Greg Russo who is really interested in Vaas as a character and making a film. I spoke to some writers from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul about it, and there’s a lot of interest there. I’ve also spoken to producers here in Los Angeles that are interested. I think if the fans really asked for it, I feel we could give it to them, right? I think we’re very close, we’ll see where it goes.”

In today’s Hollywood, movies based on video games can be pretty popular thanks to their source material, but most of them turn out to be a critical disappointment. Regardless, many famous video games franchises like Tomb Raider, Assassin’s Creed, and Sonic the Hedgehog already got their movie adaptations, and Uncharted is also set to hit the big screen next year. Could Far Cry be next?

The latest installment of Far Cry video game franchice – Far Cry 6 – was released last month for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna, and Stadia.
