Finneas defended his sister Billie Eilish online after she faced heavy criticism for comments made during her Grammys acceptance speech. On Wednesday, he posted on Instagram Threads, calling out those upset by Billie’s words. He wrote, Seeing a lot of very powerful old white men outraged about what my 24-year-old sister said during her acceptance speech. We can literally see your names in the Epstein files.

The controversy began after Billie Eilish won song of the year for her track Wildflower at the 2026 Grammys.

While accepting the award, she made a direct political statement, saying f*** ICE. Finneas joined her on stage during the speech. Billie added, I feel so honored every time I get to be in this room. As grateful as I feel, I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything but that no one is illegal on stolen land. And, yeah, it’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, and I feel really hopeful in this room, and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting, and our voices really do matter, and the people matter, and f*** ICE. That’s all I’m going to say. Sorry. Thank you so much.

Billie was not the only artist to speak out at the Grammys. Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny also used his platform to make a political statement after winning best música urbana album for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.

During his speech, he said, Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out. We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans. Also, I will say to people, I know it’s tough to know not to hate on these days and I was thinking sometimes, we get contaminados [contaminated], I don’t know how to say that in English. The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We don’t hate them. We love our people. We love our family, and that’s the way to do it. With love. Don’t forget that please. Thank you.

Both speeches sparked widespread debate online. While some fans praised the artists for speaking out, others criticized them for bringing politics into the ceremony. Finneas’ post defending Billie quickly became part of the conversation, highlighting the ongoing divide over their statements.

Artists have always used their platforms to share their beliefs, and Billie’s comments fall into that tradition. It’s understandable that not everyone will agree, but speaking up about issues that matter to them is part of being an influential public figure.
