First Details For ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Season 2 Revealed as New Cast Members Join the Epic Adventure
Fans of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms won’t have to wait long for more adventures with Dunk and Egg. Following a strong first season that quickly became a hit, HBO is already moving forward with season 2.
The show has been praised for bringing a lighter, more wholesome tone to the gritty world of Westeros, and lead actors Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell have won over audiences as the beloved hedge knight and his secret Targaryen squire.
Entertainment Weekly reports that season 2 will adapt George R.R. Martin’s novella The Sworn Sword. The story follows Dunk and Egg as they become involved in a land dispute with an old knight and a determined widow, promising new conflicts and alliances. Several new cast members have been announced.
Lucy Boynton, known for Sing Street and Murder on the Orient Express, will play Lady Rohanne Webber, a.k.a. the Red Widow. Babou Ceesay, of Alien: Earth, will portray Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield, described as a sullen and cynical knight. Peter Mullan, recognized for his work on Ozark, will take on the role of Ser Eustace Osgrey, Dunk’s new charge as he serves his knightly duties.
According to showrunner and co-creator Ira Parker, filming for season 2 is already underway. “Lucy brings so much fire to the role of Lady Webber. She’s exactly the kind of formidable character that will challenge Dunk in ways we haven’t seen before,” Parker told Entertainment Weekly.
HBO plans to keep an annual release schedule for its Game of Thrones spin-offs, meaning fans can expect to see A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms return in 2027. In the meantime, season 3 of House of the Dragon will fill the gap, but new details about Dunk and Egg hint at exciting developments, especially with the looming Blackfyre Rebellion and the influence of Lady Webber.
Lady Webber’s presence is expected to shake up the dynamics from season 1. “She’s a fiery and dangerous woman in a world dominated by men,” Parker added. “Her rivalry with Ser Eustace and interactions with Dunk will add a fresh energy to the series.”
Season 2 promises more adventure, politics, and drama as Dunk and Egg navigate new threats while staying true to the spirit of Martin’s novellas. Fans can mark their calendars for 2027 to follow the next chapter in this compelling spin-off.
