The Big Bang Theory world is growing again. Even though the original show wrapped years ago, the franchise is still going strong with yet another spin-off. HBO Max has released the first glimpse of its newest comedy, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, as part of a preview of its 2026 lineup.

The new series puts Stuart Bloom, played again by Kevin Sussman, at the center of the story. According to HBO Max, the show follows Stuart after he accidentally breaks a device created by Sheldon and Leonard.

That mistake sets off a chain reaction that opens the multiverse and puts reality in danger. The official description says the comic shop owner has to fix the mess he created while dealing with the chaos that follows.

Stuart won’t be on this wild adventure alone. Denise, Bert, and Barry Kripke all return, with Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn, and John Ross Bowie stepping back into their roles. The show will also bring in alternate-universe versions of characters that longtime fans will recognize, though HBO Max hasn’t said who else might appear.

The spin-off is the third show connected to The Big Bang Theory, following Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Unlike those two prequels, this one moves the story forward. Production began in late 2025, and the show is being made by Warner Bros. Television, the same studio behind the original sitcom.

The first look doesn’t reveal much about the plot, but it does confirm the multiverse storyline and gives fans a taste of what’s coming. The teaser appeared alongside footage from other big HBO Max titles for 2026, including Euphoria, House of the Dragon, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
