Very few horror movies become genuine pop culture events, but ‘Obsession’ did exactly that this year. Curry Barker’s directorial debut cost a reported $750,000 to make and has grossed more than $500 million worldwide. It’s the highest-grossing movie ever made for under $1 million, and Focus Features’ biggest hit of all time.

At the center of that success is Nikki Freeman, played by Inde Navarrette. The story follows Bear, a music store employee played by Michael Johnston, who uses a mysterious novelty item called the One Wish Willow to wish that his longtime crush Nikki would love him more than anyone. Several publications have called the character a potential modern horror icon, and Navarrette has picked up a Critics’ Choice Super Award for the role.

Now Nikki is heading somewhere new. DiscussingFilm has shared an exclusive first look at Nikki from ‘Obsession’ in ‘Fortnite’, with two shadowy images showing her in dim, moody lighting. In one, she wears the film’s red-and-black top in a purple-lit hallway, and in the other she’s a silhouette beside a lamp in a dark room.

The collaboration launches on Wednesday, October 21, as part of Fortnitemares 2026, and Epic Games has officially confirmed it with a teaser. According to leakers, the bundle includes the Nikki Freeman outfit, a back bling, a pickaxe, and an emote. The emote reportedly uses a prop and has a special version when it’s used with the Nikki skin.

Other details have emerged from leaks. Nikki has her own lobby idle animation, and the back bling reportedly plays a sound on eliminations. The outfit is also said to have a second, bloodier style that mostly changes her face while keeping the same red-and-black top.

Pricing hasn’t been confirmed by Epic. Dot Esports expects the outfit to cost 1,500 V-Bucks and the full bundle around 2,300 V-Bucks, based on similar collaborations. It also notes that the skin could possibly be earned through a Fortnite Cup, as with another recent live-action collab.

The skin didn’t come out of nowhere. Update v42.40 on October 15 added an Obsession-themed Sprite called One Wish Willow, along with the encrypted Nikki files. The Sprite reportedly lets players steal other players’ sprites on eliminations, repel attacks when hit, and mark thieves on the map, so the film’s central object has been playable for several days.

The timing also lines up with an ESRB update. Fortnite’s rating now includes an Animated Blood content descriptor, which matches the bloodier look reportedly planned for Nikki’s second style.

Fans had been asking for this for months. A fan-made concept featuring Nikki went viral in the summer, with players demanding the character for Fortnitemares, and the community has been rallying behind the idea ever since. Epic has now delivered it.

The collaboration is the latest sign of how far ‘Obsession’ has traveled since its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025. Focus Features acquired it for $14 million or more, then released it on May 15, 2026, to an A- CinemaScore that’s extremely rare for a horror film. It also posted one of the biggest second-weekend increases in modern box office history.

Barker has since become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after filmmakers, and Focus Features has started an awards campaign for Navarrette this fall. With Nikki arriving in one of the world’s biggest games, her reach is about to extend well beyond cinemas.
