The Power Sword has been through a lot over the years. In the earliest stories, it was split in two and Skeletor wanted to combine both halves to gain control. Back then, He-Man didn’t even use it, he had an axe and a shield instead.

But that changed when the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon aired. That’s when the sword became the magical item that turned Prince Adam into He-Man.

This time, there’s no mention of the sword being split or broken. From what we can see, it seems like the design sticks closer to the classic look but with a modern edge. Over the decades, the sword has been redesigned many times, fans will remember the changes from The New Adventures of He-Man, the 2002 reboot, and the Netflix versions. Lately, in newer shows like MOTU Revolution and Turtles of Grayskull, the sword has even been shown to heal or clear away dark magic when He-Man wields it.

Now that the movie’s Power Sword design is out, the hype is getting real. The film stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, who becomes He-Man, and it’s being directed by Travis Knight, with a script from Chris Butler.

According to the official synopsis, the story begins when a young Prince Adam crash-lands on Earth and loses the Power Sword. That sword is his only link to his homeworld, Eternia. About 20 years later, he finds the sword again and is pulled back through space to stop Skeletor and save Eternia. But before he can become He-Man, he has to learn about who he really is.

The official summary describes it like this: “10-year-old Prince Adam crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man, the most powerful man in the Universe!”

Travis Knight is best known for Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee. He’s known for mixing action with real emotion, and many fans think he’s a great choice to bring Eternia to the big screen. The cast includes Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, and Jared Leto as Skeletor.

Other characters showing up include Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, and Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress. James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley will play Prince Adam’s parents, King Randor and Queen Marlena.

There’s been a lot of talk online about the look of the movie, especially after a few leaked set photos made the rounds. Some fans are worried it won’t stick close enough to the original story.

After years of delays and changes, Masters of the Universe is finally happening. The movie is set for release in June 2026, and the recent logo and Power Sword reveal seem to be just the beginning. With Comic-Con going on, more news is likely just around the corner. For now, the sword is back, and the countdown to Eternia has officially begun.
