First Posters & Trailer Released for Steven Spielberg’s ‘Disclosure Day’ Featuring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor
Steven Spielberg is back with a new sci-fi thriller titled Disclosure Day, set to hit theaters in the United States on June 12, 2026. The film, which comes from a story by Spielberg himself and a screenplay by frequent collaborator David Koepp, explores the question: “If you found out we weren’t alone in the universe, would that frighten you?” Universal Pictures will distribute the movie, and it is planned for IMAX release.
The cast of Disclosure Day includes Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor in lead roles, joined by Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, and Henry Lloyd-Hughes. Additional actors, including Michael Gaston, Elliot Villar, and Noah Robbins, round out the ensemble. Reports indicate that some of the actors, like O’Connor and Lloyd-Hughes, were offered their parts without auditioning.
Production on the film began after the project was announced in April 2024. Spielberg developed the idea as a UFO-focused story, with Koepp attached to write the script. By May 2024, Universal Pictures had acquired distribution rights. Casting took place over several months, and Emily Blunt officially signed on in August 2024. Other major cast members joined between August and December. Costume design is being handled by Paul Tazewell, marking his second collaboration with Spielberg after West Side Story (2021).
