First ‘Supergirl’ Teaser Lands Before Full Trailer Release
James Gunn has shared the first teaser for the new Supergirl movie, giving fans their first look at Milly Alcock playing Kara Zor-El.
The short clip was posted on his social media accounts and quickly spread online. It comes right after Warner Bros.’ major Supergirl promotion at CCXP25, where the studio showed off costumes, props and other material from the film.

Until now, people had only seen photos from the event, so the teaser marks the first time Alcock has been seen in motion as the character. Warner Bros. has been pushing the film harder in recent weeks, as it will be a key part of the DC Universe slate scheduled for 2026.
The movie is being directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira. Milly Alcock plays Supergirl, with supporting roles from Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham. James Gunn and Peter Safran are producing it for DC Studios. The story follows Kara as she travels through space and faces a tragedy that sends her on what has been described as a “murderous quest for revenge.”
Supergirl has had a long path to the screen. A version of the project was first planned several years ago under the old DCEU line-up, and the character appeared in The Flash in 2023. Plans changed when Gunn and Safran took over DC Studios in 2022. The new movie is inspired by the comic Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Alcock joined the cast after being chosen to appear in the 2025 Superman movie. Production for Supergirl took place in the United Kingdom earlier this year.
Warner Bros. says the film will be released on June 26, 2026, as part of the first chapter of the new DC Universe, named Gods and Monsters.
