First Trailer Drops For ‘Mutiny’ – Jason Statham Returns in a Brutal New Action Thriller
The first trailer for Mutiny has arrived, giving a clear look at Jason Statham in another intense, no-nonsense role. According to details shared alongside the trailer, the film is set to hit theaters on August 21, arriving well before his already announced sequel The Beekeeper 2.
In this new story, Statham plays Cole Reed, a cop who ends up off the grid and on a ship in the middle of the ocean. The reason is straightforward. He is there to take down human traffickers. The trailer makes it obvious that the film leans heavily into action, with Statham fighting his way through enemies across tight spaces and narrow corridors. At one point, his motivation is summed up in a single word: “vengeance.”
The setup feels very familiar in a good way. The situation has a strong resemblance to Die Hard, just moved from a skyscraper to a ship. Most of the action takes place at sea, although the trailer briefly shows a scene with a car, suggesting the story will not stay in one place the entire time. The official tagline, “Turn the Tide,” reinforces the idea of a fight unfolding in a confined and dangerous setting.

The film is directed by Jean-François Richet, who previously worked with Statham on Plane. The runtime is expected to be around 95 minutes, which points to a fast and focused movie without unnecessary detours.
Alongside Statham, the cast includes Jason Wong as Taran, as well as Annabelle Wallis, Roland Møller, Arnas Fedaravicius, and Adrian Lester in supporting roles.
All of this information comes from the newly released trailer and early promotional details tied to the film’s announcement. Based on what has been shown so far, the movie is aiming to deliver exactly what audiences expect from a Statham action film, direct action, simple stakes, and a lead character who handles everything head-on.
