It’s based on the novel The Night Always Comes, written by Willy Vlautin in 2021. This film tells the story of a woman trying to find a way out of her struggles.

The film is directed by Benjamin Caron, who worked from a script written by Sarah Conradt. Vanessa Kirby leads the cast as Lynette, the desperate woman at the center of the story. She also helped produce the movie. Joining her on screen are Jennifer Jason Leigh playing Doreen and Zack Gottsagen as Lynette’s older brother, Kenny. Stephen James, Julia Fox, Eli Roth, Randall Park, and Michael Kelly are also part of the cast.

According to Netflix, the film follows Lynette, a woman in the Pacific Northwest who’s struggling to raise money and escape her difficult life. While plot details are being kept simple for now, it’s clear this will be a tense story about survival.

Back in March 2024, Netflix confirmed that Night Always Comes was in production. The project is produced by Aluna Entertainment as part of their deal with Netflix. Vanessa Kirby, Lauren Dark, Benjamin and Jodie Caron, Gary Levinsohn, and Billy Hines all worked together as producers on the film.

The movie started filming in Portland, Oregon during spring 2024. Netflix has not shared much more about the story yet, but it’s based on a novel known for its emotional and gritty storytelling.

Netflix describes Night Always Comes as a crime thriller and a drama, with a cast that brings together some familiar faces from film and TV. Vanessa Kirby, known for her roles in action and drama films, is expected to bring intensity to the lead role. Randall Park, Eli Roth, and Julia Fox add variety to the supporting cast.

Fans can expect to see more details from Netflix as the release date gets closer, but for now, the streaming service is counting down to August 15, when Night Always Comes will make its worldwide debut.
