‘Flight Risk’ Trailer: Mark Wahlberg Takes on High-Stakes Airborne Thriller with a New Look

‘Flight Risk’ is an exciting action thriller movie directed by Mel Gibson and written by Jared Rosenberg. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Topher Grace, and Michelle Dockery. The film will be released in the U.S. by Lionsgate on January 24, 2025.

The film follows a U.S. Marshal escorting a witness to trial, but they soon find out that the pilot flying them is actually a hitman hired to kill the informant. After capturing him, they must all work together to survive as other threats try to eliminate them.

The movie spent a lot of time in development. In December 2020, Jared Rosenberg’s screenplay for the movie was named one of the best unproduced scripts in Hollywood. In May 2023, it was announced that Mel Gibson would direct and Mark Wahlberg would star.

Now the first trailer for the movie is here and it’s showcasing a drastically different look at Mark Wahlberg:

Wahlberg recently commented on his new look for the film sharing he had to shave the top of his head every day while filming and usually wore a hat when not on set. His family found the process amusing.

There was no bald cap. I shaved the middle and left the horseshoe around the sides. We just shaved it. They would shave the top as close to the scalp as possible every day, obviously, because we didn’t have any stubble or anything. So I just hid it with a hat. But the most priceless thing was seeing my wife’s face when I took my hat off after getting the hair cut for work that day… My kids — my boys especially — they loved the hair cut. They got a lot of laughs out of that.

Filming for ‘Flight Risk’ started in Las Vegas in June 2023 and took place in Mesquite, Nevada, in July. Some scenes were also filmed in Alaska. The filmmakers got approval to continue filming during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Filming ended in August 2023.
