Florence Pugh Turns the ‘East of Eden’ New York Screening Into a Fairy-Tale Moment in Sparkling White
Few stars treat a press tour like a runway quite like Florence Pugh, and her latest stop at the ‘East of Eden’ New York screening proved it once again. The Netflix limited series, a fresh take on John Steinbeck’s classic, is just days away from its premiere, and Pugh has been busy hopping between cities to promote it.
The tour kicked off in West Hollywood, where Pugh was joined by Zoe Kazan, the show’s co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Pugh and Kazan also made stops in Washington, D.C., where they joined Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria for a live panel at The Atlantic Festival on September 18.
The latest chapter unfolded on Sunday, September 27, at a special screening held at the Paley Center for Media in New York City. For the occasion, the 30-year-old Oscar-nominated actress went glam in a white gown covered in silver rhinestones.
The dress was a white Erdem Resort 2027 design with an exaggerated, voluminous silhouette, which she paired with silver sandals. Sparkling crystal appliqués ran along the neckline and waist, while her long blonde waves were swept to one side and finished with glittering drop earrings.
The oversized shape may divide some fashion fans, but one critic argued that the proportions are exactly what give the dress its character. They added that Pugh has never been afraid of an unconventional shape, and that she carries all that volume with real confidence.

Pugh’s outfits have become one of the tour’s biggest talking points. At the London photocall, she wore a richly patterned Dior coat with a sharp white collar before switching into a pleated Rodarte blouse and wide-leg trousers.
She then took a darker turn at the BAFTA premiere in a black Rodarte gown, pairing it with a blood-red lip and a Bvlgari necklace set with a matching red stone. Not everyone was convinced by that Rodarte look, which makes the soft, romantic New York gown feel like a welcome shift.

She also channeled old Hollywood glamour for a sultry appearance on ‘The Tonight Show’ ahead of the release. Each look has matched the tone of its event, and the New York gown added a memorable new chapter.
Pugh wasn’t alone at the Paley Center. Co-stars Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist also turned out to promote the series, with Faist joining her for photos at the event. The cast has been largely present throughout the tour. At the BAFTA screening, Pugh was joined by Faist, Kazan and executive producer Jeb Stuart.
The series itself looks set to be a major moment for Pugh. The adaptation explores the multigenerational saga of the Trask family, focusing new attention on its unforgettable antihero, Cathy Ames.

Pugh plays that formidable role and also serves as an executive producer. Speaking to the Press Association in London, she described making the show as a beautiful experience despite how complex the character is, adding that it pushed her to grow as a performer.
Filming took place in New Zealand starting in October 2024. The story explores the darker side of the California dream through family dysfunction, betrayal and the battle between good and evil.

All 7 episodes will be available on Netflix starting Thursday, October 1. The cast also includes Joseph Zada, Zoe Phillips and Joe Anders. For an actress whose career already includes an Oscar nomination and 3 BAFTA nominations, this project could be another milestone. If her red carpet run is anything to go by, she’s ready for the spotlight.
