‘Focker In-Law’ Releases First Trailer – Ariana Grande Crashes the Focker Family Chaos
Ariana Grande is stepping into another big movie moment, this time bringing her energy to the well-known Focker comedy world. According to information shared by Universal Pictures during CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the singer and actress appears in the first trailer for the upcoming film “Focker In-Law,” where she joins Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro.
The trailer was shown to movie theater owners at the annual event, giving an early look at the new story. Grande plays Olivia Jones, the girlfriend of Henry, who is played by Skyler Gisondo. The film continues the story from “Meet the Parents,” where Stiller’s character Greg Focker struggles to impress his girlfriend’s strict father, played by De Niro. That original film was a huge success, earning $330 million worldwide and leading to two sequels.
During the presentation, Stiller joked on stage, saying, “I guess you could say I’m the new De Niro of the franchise.” Moments later, De Niro walked out to cheers from the audience. Both actors spoke about working with Grande, with De Niro praising her and saying, “probably the single funniest scene partner I’ve ever been lucky enough to share the screen with.” Stiller, in contrast, reacted in a more awkward and quiet way, which added to the humor of the moment.

More details about Grande’s role came from her 2026 Actors on Actors conversation with Adam Sandler. She explained that her character causes tension with Greg Focker. She said, “son’s girlfriend, who he’s not sure of or connecting with. He’s very against me. And the worst part — his character’s nightmare is — I get along gorgeously with Robert De Niro’s character, Jack. He loves me, and I get immediate approval from the rest of the family.”
The trailer shows exactly that dynamic. Olivia is confident and highly skilled, even saying she trained as an FBI hostage negotiator. She uses that mindset to try and pull Henry away from what she sees as an unhealthy relationship with his father. This only makes things worse for Greg, especially since the rest of the family quickly grows to love her.
The film is set to arrive in theaters nationwide this Thanksgiving, based on the footage and details shared at CinemaCon.
