Former AEW Star Clinches WWE Title in Show-Stopping Win
Former AEW star Blake Monroe has officially made her mark in WWE by capturing her first title since joining the company.
Monroe, who previously wrestled under the name Mariah May and held the AEW Women’s World Championship after defeating Toni Storm, won the NXT Women’s North American Championship at NXT Halloween Havoc.
Monroe faced Zaria, who was filling in for an injured Sol Ruca. From the start, the match was intense, with Monroe charging at Zaria. Early momentum shifted quickly as Zaria countered with strikes and a slam.
Monroe focused her attack on Zaria’s arm, using repeated slams and submission moves to weaken it. Despite the pain, Zaria fought back with clotheslines and a suplex, showing resilience throughout the match.
The action escalated when Zaria’s shoulder popped during a move, only for Ruca to intervene and help her recover. Both women exchanged brutal attacks, with Monroe even using her signature hair clip to gain an advantage. In the final moments, Monroe executed the Glamour Shot DDT twice, once on the floor and once in the ring, to secure the pinfall and win the championship.
Monroe celebrated her victory as her first WWE title, marking a major milestone in her career and signaling a new chapter in NXT. Zaria and Ruca’s involvement hints at future storylines, as Ruca’s eventual return could lead to a singles match with Monroe or even a potential split and feud between Zaria and Ruca.
