A post about the death of actor Eric Dane has sparked controversy after former Grey’s Anatomy extra Laura Ann Tull made serious claims against him. On the social media app Threads, Tull commented on a Variety post about Dane’s passing, calling him “a bully and an a-hole.”

Her comments prompted a flood of responses, with many users questioning her accusations. When asked for proof, Tull said Dane had bullied her while she worked as a background actor on Grey’s Anatomy for three years. “He was a coward who abused me. Bullied me. Made fun of me,” she wrote. In another reply, she added, “He just died. I only wish he’d apologized & admitted what he did.”

Tull also claimed that she was the reason Dane left the show, writing, “I am why he was fired from Grey’s.” These remarks echo statements she previously made in a 2018 essay on Medium, where she described her experiences as an extra in Hollywood. “I worked on Grey’s Anatomy for three years as an extra, but I never spoke to Dane once directly. But I did hear him talk about me,” she said at the time. Tull also said she was labeled “weird” by a third party, which contributed to her decision to leave the industry.

There is no evidence to support Tull’s claim that she had any role in Dane leaving Grey’s Anatomy. Dane himself had previously explained that his departure was due to budget and creative decisions, as veteran cast members were becoming too expensive for the network. He also mentioned that his struggles with prescription medication were unrelated to leaving the show.

Eric Dane, known for playing Dr. Mark Sloan, also called “McSteamy,” on Grey’s Anatomy, later starred in the HBO series Euphoria. He died on February 19 at the age of 53, nearly a year after revealing he had been diagnosed with ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease. In the months leading up to his death, Dane had become an advocate for ALS, speaking publicly about the disease. Dane passed away “following a courageous battle with ALS, surrounded by his loving family.”

While Laura Ann Tull’s allegations are serious, it’s important to remember that no independent evidence supports her claims about Dane’s behavior or her influence on his career. This situation highlights how complex and personal workplace experiences can become magnified on social media, especially following someone’s death.
