Fans have waited a long time to see Anna and Kristoff tie the knot. At the end of ‘Frozen 2’, Kristoff finally proposed, leaving viewers to imagine what an Arendelle royal wedding might look like.

Disney Animation is now well into production on ‘Frozen 3’, with Jennifer Lee returning to write and direct alongside co-director Trent Correy. Songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are also back to write new music for the franchise.

Fans will get that wedding right away. Disney Animation chief Jared Bush revealed that the third film begins with Anna and Kristoff’s wedding. “This movie starts with their wedding,” Bush told Collider at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. He added that there isn’t much time between the events of ‘Frozen 2’ and the new film.

That means the story picks up shortly after the last chapter. Fans who wanted to see the couple’s big day will get it at the very start. The wedding will also come with music. Bush said Anderson-Lopez and Lopez are about 5 songs into the score so far.

He teased that one of them is a spectacular song heard around Anna and Kristoff’s wedding. When asked whether it was written specifically for the couple, Bush declined to share more details.

The songwriting team is also working on what Bush described as one of the film’s most emotional songs. Given how central the music has been to the franchise, fans will be eager to hear more.

Fans got an early taste of the wedding at Disney’s D23 showcase in August. The footage showed Anna in her wedding dress and Elsa in a new pink gown as the celebrations got underway.

The happy moment didn’t last long, though. A curtain of Northern Lights descended over Arendelle’s fjord, and Elsa found a frozen walkway leading into the aurora, which appears to be the gateway to the film’s adventure.

Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell performed new material on stage at the event. Josh Gad also performed a song for Olaf about his love interest, Samantha, described as a mix of calypso and disco. The wedding sets up a story that quickly turns dangerous. Bush confirmed the film will introduce a new villain who may be more powerful than Elsa.

At D23, the character was heard but not seen, appearing as a cloaked figure with short black hair who called Anna and Elsa “the famous sisters of Arendelle.” Bush said the actress has already recorded her performance several times, but her casting hasn’t been announced.

Bush also discussed how the team is approaching ‘Frozen 4′, which Lee is also writing and directing. He explained that they want to build toward something worthy of the end of a franchise, while keeping the focus on the characters’ journeys. For now, the priority is making the third film the best it can be. Bush said the team wants to make sure the movie lives up to fans’ expectations.

‘Frozen 3’ opens in theaters on November 24, 2027, keeping the Thanksgiving window used by the first 2 films. Bell returns as Anna, Menzel as Elsa, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, and Gad as Olaf.

With a royal wedding, new songs and a powerful new villain, the next chapter looks like it will balance celebration and danger. Fans now have a year to imagine how the big day will play out.
