For 8 seasons, the Tanner family welcomed viewers into their San Francisco home, and the cast of ‘Full House’ has stayed close ever since. Over the years, those reunions have taken on deeper meaning, especially since the sudden death of Bob Saget in 2022.

For Saget, one cause mattered more than almost anything. His sister Gay died from complications of scleroderma, and for 30 years he devoted himself to the Scleroderma Research Foundation, organizing and producing its signature fundraiser, Cool Comedy • Hot Cuisine.

On Tuesday, October 13, that fundraiser brought the ‘Full House’ family back together. Candace Cameron Bure, Lori Loughlin and Jodie Sweetin walked the red carpet at the Beverly Wilshire, and in Getty photos shared by TMZ, the group gathered around John Stamos for a smiling selfie in front of the foundation’s backdrop.

Dave Coulier couldn’t attend in person but sent a video message. ‘Full House’ creator Jeff Franklin and ‘Fuller House’ actor John Brotherton were also there, making the night feel like a family gathering in honor of the man who used to host it.

The night was especially meaningful for Stamos. He received the Bob Saget Legacy Award, presented by Howie Mandel. The award was created in 2023 to honor people who have helped raise awareness and money for scleroderma research.

In his speech, Stamos was candid about how their friendship began. “Bob and I didn’t get along very well the first couple of years of ‘Full House,'” he said, according to the Scleroderma Research Foundation. He explained that after Gay’s diagnosis, the 2 became as close as brothers.

Stamos also reflected on what Saget left behind. “You look around tonight, and this is a legacy,” he told the crowd, describing Saget’s impact as something far bigger than reruns. Mandel paid tribute too, calling Saget “one of the most amazing human beings I ever knew.”

Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, who served as an event co-chair, said the evening “meant everything” to him and “was his life’s work,” and she called Stamos Saget’s biggest supporter.

The event was a major success. Hosted by Jeff Ross, the evening raised $1,077,000 for scleroderma research, with comedy sets from Fortune Feimster, Matt Friend, Ron Funches, Jay Pharoah and Lisa Ann Walter, and a multi-course dinner curated by chef Susan Feniger.

John Mayer made a surprise appearance to help auction a package to see him perform at Sphere in Las Vegas, which raised $150,000 from 2 donors. Seth Green served as guest co-auctioneer, and Kenny Loggins and Green Day drummer Tré Cool were among the guests.

Cool Comedy • Hot Cuisine has been the foundation’s signature fundraiser since 1987, and it has now raised more than $32 million for scleroderma research. Since Saget’s death, his family and friends have kept it going in his honor.

Previous Bob Saget Legacy Award recipients include Caroline Hirsch, John Mayer and Jeff Ross. Stamos joining that list feels especially fitting given how close he and Saget became.

This isn’t the first time the cast has reunited at the event. In October 2024, Loughlin, Stamos, Bure and Sweetin gathered at the same fundraiser in Saget’s honor, in what was then their first reunion in 2 years.

Saget’s influence also continues on screen. ‘Who Is Martin Mull?’, the documentary he started in 2018, was completed by filmmaker Neil Berkeley, who attended the event, and premiered on Netflix on October 7.

Decades after ‘Full House’ ended in 1995, its cast still shows up for each other. The latest reunion was a reminder that the bonds formed on that set have lasted well beyond the show. Above all, it showed that Saget’s mission is in good hands. With his friends carrying on his work, the fight against scleroderma continues as part of his legacy.
