Funko Is Finally Giving ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ the Collection It Deserved 11 Years Ago

Collectors have spent over a decade grumbling about the original wave of figures tied to Marvel’s second Avengers outing. The 2015 lineup covered the obvious names but left glaring gaps, and the designs were built on pre-release information rather than the finished film. A new ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Funko wave is now addressing those complaints directly.

The original run arrived in April 2015 with Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Vision and Ultron, plus a 6-inch Hulkbuster. Notably absent were both Maximoff twins, with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver skipped entirely, a decision that frustrated fans at the time.

That omission is finally being fixed. A new set of MCU Archives figures covering the film went up for pre-order, with Ultron, Vision, Quicksilver, and Iron Man all included, and Funko’s own listings price the line at $14.99 each.

One design in particular has pulled focus. The new Vision is sculpted holding Mjolnir, referencing the single most memorable beat of his introduction and a moment the 2015 figure never attempted.

It’s a meaningful upgrade. The original Vision Pop drew criticism for its magenta and grey color scheme, which didn’t match how the character actually appeared on screen, something Funko later patched with a Target-exclusive faded variant and other alternate releases.

The inclusion of Quicksilver is arguably the bigger news for completists. He was passed over entirely in the original assortment, and even the accompanying Mystery Minis line leaned overwhelmingly male while still skipping both twins.

Getting the character in the MCU Archives line, more than a decade after the film’s release, closes one of the more conspicuous holes in Marvel’s Pop catalog. For collectors building a complete shelf, it’s the figure that makes the wave worth the pre-order.

Iron Man returns as the Mark 43, the same armor used for the 2015 release, which has since become a vaulted and sought-after entry on the secondary market. The timing is no coincidence. Ultron has re-entered the MCU conversation through ‘VisionQuest’, which premiered on Disney+ on October 14, bringing James Spader back as the character for the first time since 2015.

That series has already proven a reliable Funko showcase. In July, Funko revealed the first official look at both Vision and Ultron from the show, with each figure split down the middle to show a human half and a synthezoid half, arriving days after Marvel’s Comic-Con panel barely mentioned the series.

The show leans hard on the relationship between the two characters. Showrunner Terry Matalas has described their interactions as a central dynamic, while Spader has characterized it as a sort of father-son-therapist-psychopath arrangement.

MCU Archives has become Funko’s vehicle for revisiting older films with better sculpts, and this wave includes variant treatments too, with an Ultron Glow version among the figures tied to the line.

For a film whose merchandise was shaped by 2015 production schedules and incomplete character reference, the do-over makes sense. These figures are based on how the characters actually looked once the movie was out, not on early concept materials.

The pre-orders went live at 9 AM PT, and Funko’s listings had already flagged low stock shortly after. Given how quickly MCU Archives releases tend to move, collectors chasing the Vision with Mjolnir in particular may want to move fast.

Whether Funko extends the wave to cover Scarlet Witch, the other long-missing Maximoff, remains to be seen. For now, the company has quietly delivered the ‘Age of Ultron’ assortment fans have been asking about since the film was in theaters.
