‘Game of Thrones’ 15th Anniversary Teaser Drops
HBO just dropped the first teaser celebrating 15 years of Game of Thrones, giving fans a glimpse of the original series alongside House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
The teaser reminds viewers of why Westeros captured the world’s imagination, even if the original finale left some fans divided. According to HBO, there’s a lot more coming for fans to look forward to in the next few years.
House of the Dragon is back for its third season in June. Emma D’Arcy returns as Rhaenyra Targaryen as the Targaryen Civil War explodes into full-scale conflict. Early reports suggest the season will open with the Battle of the Gullet, one of the bloodiest naval battles in Westerosi history. Fans can expect the struggle between the Greens and the Blacks to intensify as each side fights for the Iron Throne.
Meanwhile, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has already been renewed for a second season, which is expected to air in 2027. The story follows Dunk and Egg as they navigate Westeros, with the new season adapting George R.R. Martin’s second tale, The Sworn Sword. HBO confirmed that filming is already underway.

Other projects exploring the early days of Westeros are also in development. Aegon’s Conquest, written by Mattson Tomlin, will focus on Aegon Targaryen’s arrival and the unification of the Seven Kingdoms. The format is still being finalized and could be a movie or series. Another rumored project, Nine Voyages, will cover the adventures of Corlys Velaryon and is planned as an animated series by Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky.
Fans can also look forward to 10,000 Ships, which follows the legendary Nymeria on her journey to Dorne. HBO tapped Eboni Booth in 2024 to work on a new pilot for the series, which has been in development for years.
Even after 15 years, the world of Westeros is still expanding, with stories that take fans from the earliest days of the Targaryens to new adventures in the Seven Kingdoms. The 15th-anniversary teaser is just the start of what promises to be a busy few years for fans of George R.R. Martin’s universe.
It’s exciting to see HBO investing in the history of Westeros, especially with a mix of live-action and animated projects. The original series may have had a controversial ending, but these new stories could give fans a chance to explore the world in fresh ways.
