‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Drops Final Trailer Before Premiere
HBO has released the final trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the upcoming prequel to Game of Thrones. The series, based on George R. R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, also known as Dunk, and his squire, Aegon Targaryen, nicknamed Egg.
Created by Ira Parker and George R. R. Martin, the show stars Peter Claffey as Dunk and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg.
Other key cast members include Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as the Dornish puppeteer Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Prince Maekar Targaryen. The series is set hundreds of years before the events of Game of Thrones, showing the early days of House Targaryen and the world of Westeros through the eyes of a hedge knight and his young squire.

Production for the first season began in June 2024 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and wrapped in September. HBO announced that the six-episode series will premiere on January 18, 2026, on both HBO and HBO Max. Even before the series premieres, HBO confirmed that a second season is in the works, expected to air in 2027.
HBO first teased the series on August 4, 2024, with a preview as part of its upcoming original programming slate. A “first look” teaser followed in November 2024, with the official poster revealed on October 6.
