‘Ghost of Yotei’ Artist Loses Job After Making Atrocious Comment on Social Media Following Charlie Kirk Death
Drew Harrison, a senior character artist at Sucker Punch Productions, has been fired following a social media post that drew widespread attention and criticism. Harrison, known online as @imodrew.bsky.social on BlueSky, made a joke about the man accused of shooting Charlie Kirk, referencing Nintendo’s Mario in her post.
“I hope the shooter’s name is Mario so that Luigi knows his bro got his back,” Harrison wrote, seemingly referring to Luigi Mangione, 27, who is accused of fatally shooting Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, in New York City in December 2024.
The post quickly went viral on X and Reddit, prompting outrage from users online. Many people have called for a boycott of Sucker Punch Productions’ upcoming game, Ghost of Yotei, which is set to release on October 2 for PlayStation 5.
Harrison has worked at Sucker Punch Productions since 2016, according to her LinkedIn profile. She served as a senior staff character artist, working as a look developer and texture artist on the company’s games, and has experience in film production as well.
In response to the backlash, Harrison posted additional messages on BlueSky. “I have been told that the Twitter has noticed me from across the room uwu,” she wrote. She also added, “Some of y’all have never heard of the critically acclaimed Mario Bros franchise by Nintendo & it shows.”

After the controversy, Harrison confirmed she had lost her job, stating, “If standing up against fascism is what cost me my dream job I held for 10 years, I would do it again 100x stronger.” Sucker Punch Productions has not issued any official comment on the situation.
