Giancarlo Esposito Is Down To Play Professor X Under One Condition

With the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ release, fans hope it will bring X-Men into the MCU. Though Professor X debuted in the MCU, fans await a version to stay and join various stories. Many actors are considered, with Giancarlo Esposito standing out. Esposito, known for villainous roles, expressed interest in the role during a Fade to Black podcast appearance. However, he dislikes a characteristic that defines the character.

It would be great to play Professor X in some other incarnation than just the wheelchair,’ right? Because the physical idea of being in a wheelchair every single day does not appeal to me. I just don’t feel that old and I don’t like to sit that much. But certainly we could figure something out. Maybe. Professor X wasn’t always in the wheelchair, but that is part of his character development.

Esposito makes a valid point about Professor X’s backstory, as his origin varies between comic interpretations and the Fox X-Men films. In the comics, the Mutant Resurrection Protocol has freed him from the wheelchair for some time, altering the character’s trademark.
