‘Golden’ by HUNTR/X Makes History: First Female K-Pop Artist and First Girl Group Since Destiny’s Child to Hit #1 on Billboard Hot 100
Netflix’s animated hit KPop Demon Hunters is taking the world by storm, not just on streaming but also on the music charts, according to Billboard. The movie, which dropped on June 20, 2025, has six of its songs climbing the Billboard Hot 100, with two smashing into the top 10.
The story follows rival K-pop groups with secret supernatural powers, blending music and magic in a way that’s hooked fans globally. The standout track, Golden, performed by the fictional girl group HUNTR/X (voiced by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI), is holding strong at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for its second week, racking up 28.9 million streams. Meanwhile, Your Idol by the rival Saja Boys (voiced by Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo, and samUIL Lee) jumped from No. 12 to No. 9 with 19 million streams.
These are the first top 10 Hot 100 hits for all the artists involved, marking a huge moment for the soundtrack. The KPop Demon Hunters album is also sitting pretty at No. 1 on the Billboard Soundtrack chart. Billboard notes that this is the first time since Disney’s Encanto in 2022 that a movie has landed two songs in the Hot 100’s top 10, with Encanto’s We Don’t Talk About Bruno hitting No. 1 and Surface Pressure reaching No. 8.

Beyond the charts, the film is breaking records on Netflix. A post on X from Netflix revealed that KPop Demon Hunters, directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, is now the streamer’s most-watched original animated movie ever. Fans flooded X with excitement, calling for a sequel and praising the film’s heartfelt storytelling and vibrant energy.
