‘Grown Ups 3’ Star Salma Hayek (60) Goes Blonde To Honor Penélope Cruz in a Clever Halloween Tribute

Salma Hayek and Penélope Cruz have one of Hollywood’s most enduring friendships. The 2 stars have been close for decades, with reports describing a bond that stretches back about 30 years.

Their friendship began with Hayek opening her home to Cruz. Specifically, Hayek dressed as Piña, the character Cruz plays in the A24 film ‘The Invite’. She traded her signature dark hair for a bright blonde bob with bangs, matching the character’s look from the movie.

Hayek wore the costume to a Halloween party hosted by Vas J Morgan and Michael Braun. The side-by-side images shared online show just how closely she captured Cruz’s on-screen style. The outfit was taken directly from the film. Hayek paired a black silk button-down shirt with jeans and a black leather jacket, recreating Piña’s effortlessly cool style.

Hairstylist Eduardo Ponce created the blonde transformation. Makeup artist Pablo Macías shared a close-up of the finished look on Instagram, describing it as an ode to Penélope in ‘The Invite’.

Hayek also shared photos of the look on her own Instagram in a post marking both Halloween and Día de los Muertos. She reflected on how living between cultures for years has taught her to embrace new traditions while keeping the ones that shaped her.

The actress said Halloween lets her play, dress up, and become someone else for a night, and she addressed Cruz as her beloved friend in the post. She also described Día de Muertos as the holiday that always brings her back home.
