Grand Theft Auto offers fans a huge range of interesting activities, from challenging missions and heists to some rather unique in-game hobbies – including various gambling games that can be enjoyed at casinos. Blackjack is incredibly tricky to learn in the real world, and the same can be said for Blackjack in GTA 5 as well – many players are eager to find out exactly how to win more cash playing GTA 5 Blackjack as a result.
Blackjack in GTA 5
Casinos have been an iconic addition within various GTA releases over the years, although gambling and interactive casinos were only introduced with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (GTA: SA). GTA 5 featured the Vinewood Casino, which is inaccessible to players, while GTA Online flaunts the Diamond Casino & Resort, which offers a variety of fun gambling games for players.
This casino was included along with the Diamond Casino & Resort update, which also included a range of interesting heists that involved cracking fingerprint scanners. The Diamond Casino & Resort is situated on the corner of Vinewood Park Drive and Vinewood Boulevard in East Vinewood, Los Santos – which is the very same location as the original, former Vinewood Casino featured in GTA 5 Story Mode.
How to Play Blackjack in GTA 5
GTA 5 Online includes various activities, attractions, and gambling games for players – including the reception area, vehicle podium, the Lucky Wheel, cashier booth, bar, Casino Store, and many slot machines. Visitors with a standard membership at the casino will be able to play Roulette, Blackjack, and Three Card Poker in the gambling area at the back of the casino to gain more in-game currency to splurge on GTA 5 cars, properties, weapons, and much more.
However, getting the hang of Blackjack in GTA is relatively challenging for most players – particularly those not well-versed in the real world. In GTA 5, the actual rules of Blackjack apply, except for the concept of splitting. Below are the general rules for playing Blackjack in GTA 5.
The goal of Blackjack in GTA 5 is to get as close to 21 as the player possibly can without going over, and both the player and the dealer will each start out with two cards. After the cards are dealt, the player is given a choice to either “hit” (receive new cards), “double” (which doubles the bet and gives the player one more card), or “stand” (stay with the cards in their hands).
Receiving five cards without going over 21 will automatically make the player stand, and the player may split if they have two identical cards, allowing the player to split the hand into two hands. Based on the rules, the player will lose if they exceed 21, and the dealer must stand on 17.
Acquiring a “blackjack” (an ace and a card equivalent to 10) will give the player a payout of 2-1, but the player will instead get a payout of 1-1 if the casino also has a “blackjack.” A “push” outcome can also occur if both the player and the casino have the same total, and the player will instead get their money back in these cases – but players will not receive any of their cash back if they abandon their hand midway.
The Blackjack tables in GTA 5 Online are typically divided into two sections depending on the stakes. The regular Blackjack tables support a maximum bet of $5,000, while the high stakes or “high rollers” Blackjack tables will support a maximum bet of $50,000.
GTA 5 Online Blackjack “Cheat” Sheet
Although luck is part of the fun for many players enjoying Blackjack in GTA 5 Online, many have felt that RNG simply isn’t on their side – which can be particularly devastating after sinking millions into this GTA 5 pastime. In many cases, players ended up losing way more money than they’d care to admit, often leading to players giving up on the activity entirely.
Below is an overview of one of the most popular Blackjack Cheat Sheets for GTA 5 Online, shared by Dill within a Steam Community thread.
H | Hit |
S | Stand |
P | Split |
D/H | Double down if possible, otherwise Hit |
D/S | Double down if possible, otherwise Stand |
P/H | Split (if Double down is possible after Split), otherwise Hit |
R/H | Surrender if possible, otherwise Hit |
“Left side (rows) is your current hand up to 17 (any hand size after 17 is still stand), then hands that contain an ace, and then below that is cards you could split with. The top side (columns) represent the card currently face up in the dealers hand. To find the correct action you should perform go to where your hand value is in the rows, then find the column with the corresponding value of the dealer’s hand. The rest should be easy to understand from there.”

Quite a few GTA 5 Online players have shared their trusted Blackjack Cheat Sheets for the game, although there is no “one size fits all” for any of these. Players have still lost money playing Blackjack even using these sheets, as detailed in Dill‘s quote below.
“Please note, blackjack is a game of chance. You’re never guaranteed to win with a hand, but this cheat sheet will provide the best actions to perform with a certain hand to get the best chances of winning.”
It’s important to understand that every game of Blackjack will be unique to every player and instance. To top it off, many GTA Online players have found that the cards seem to shuffle with every hand, which makes classic “tricks” like counting cards impossible.
Some Cheat Sheets work better than others for different players, depending on a variety of factors. This Blackjack Cheat Sheet below, shared by Reddit user DarnellJCL, has helped quite a few players make more winnings than losses as well, although others have found that they still lost more money than expected.
Blackjack in GTA 5 Online will require a combination of skill, strategy, and smarts, topped off with as much luck as possible for every player. While having a sheet to reference can definitely help players get into the swing of things, it will never guarantee a win – players are advised to only bet what they are willing to lose, particularly since the dealers at the Diamond Casino & Resort are infamous for their ability to magically whip out a 21 more often than not.
That’s everything there is to know about GTA 5 Blackjack as well as how to win, with images thanks to the GTA Wiki. Although players may still lose some cash as they enjoy their Blackjack session, knowing more about the game while using the given reference sheet can help players increase their chances of winning.
