Hailey Bieber is speaking out against online transphobia and using her platform to support the transgender community.

On a recent episode of the In Your Dreams podcast with her friend Owen Thiele, the 28-year-old model and entrepreneur opened up about the comments she often receives online questioning her gender identity.

“People are trying to be mean,” Bieber said. “They’re like, ‘She looks trans.’ And I’m like, why do you think that’s a diss?” She explained that she doesn’t take such remarks as an insult and challenged the idea that being transgender could ever be negative.

“As if being trans is a diss? Some of the most beautiful women and men in the world are trans. I don’t take that offensively at all.”

Comments like ‘you look trans’ are often used as insults online based on the physical characteristics of trans people. Trolls use it to try to hurt others by implying there’s something wrong with their appearance.

Bieber’s response flips that narrative, showing support for the trans community and refusing to treat such prejudice as valid.

The podcast conversation started casually, with Bieber joking about adjusting her jeans, but quickly shifted to more serious topics.

She also shared her hope for a more understanding world, saying, “My big dream is that people have more empathy. If we could meet each other with a little bit more understanding, I feel like society would be a better place.”
