Halle Berry’s (60) Daughter Nahla Defends Her Mother in Court Amid Olivier Martinez’s Abuse Allegations
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have spent years co-parenting their son since their split. The former couple, both now 60, had shared custody under a 50/50 arrangement, but that balance has been thrown into turmoil in recent weeks.
On September 26, Martinez filed a request in Los Angeles alleging that Berry had physically abused their 13-year-old son at her home. On October 1, a judge granted a temporary order that placed the boy primarily with Martinez and limited Berry to daytime visits ahead of a hearing scheduled for October 16.
Now Berry’s eldest child has stepped forward. Her 18-year-old daughter, Nahla Aubry, whom she shares with former partner Gabriel Aubry, has filed a sworn declaration defending her mother, describing her as a loving and devoted parent.
Nahla’s declaration was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on October 3. In it, she stated that she had never witnessed Berry physically abuse her younger brother in any way. She described being shocked, very sad, and upset when she learned of the allegations. Nahla also said she was heartbroken for her brother and worried about how the dispute might affect him.
The teenager went further, saying she felt like an afterthought to Martinez in what she described as his effort to harm her mother. Her statement presents a daughter firmly standing behind Berry while trying to stay connected to her sibling.

Throughout the declaration, Nahla painted a picture of Berry as closely involved in her children’s lives. She described her mother attending her brother’s games, taking him to practices and tournaments, and supporting his education and medical care.
Nahla also shared details of her last conversation with her brother on September 29. The two spoke over speakerphone while Berry drove him to school, discussing Nahla’s college experience, and she said he sounded happy for her and did not seem upset.
Berry filed her own declaration on October 5, denying the allegations. She has asked the court to restore the previous 50/50 custody schedule and submitted video as part of her response.
The actress has firmly stated she would never hurt their child. She has also said she supports other victims, according to reports on her filing. The case is set to return to court for a hearing on October 16. Until then, the temporary order limiting Berry’s parenting time remains in place.
Martinez is seeking sole custody, while Berry is pushing to reinstate their shared arrangement. The court will ultimately weigh the competing accounts from both parents and the supporting declarations.
The dispute marks a painful new chapter for a family that has faced public scrutiny before. Berry has long tried to keep her children out of the headlines, making Nahla’s decision to speak up in court especially notable.
For now, the allegations remain just that, and no findings have been made. All parties will have the chance to present their case when the hearing takes place. The news drew a wave of support for Nahla online, with many praising her for standing by her mother.
Others urged caution, noting that the legal process is still unfolding and that the well-being of the youngest child should come first. As the October hearing approaches, the case is likely to remain in the public eye. What matters most, many observers say, is a resolution that protects the child at the center of it all.
