‘Harry Potter’ Series Officially Confirms Six Hogwarts Staff Castings
The upcoming Harry Potter series is definitely going to be one of the biggest television events. In fact, even now, before production has even started, it is one of the most talked-about series online as fans keep debating what we can expect from the show.
The castings are, of course, the most often discussed aspect, and fans have been speculating about and proposing their candidates for some time now. We’ve had some confirmations up to this point, but today marks a special occasion.
Namely, we can confirm that HBO has officially confirmed six cast members for the upcoming series, all Hogwarts staff members. Some of them we’ve known, but there are some new names on the list as well!
Now, the first officially confirmed name is that of John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, but we’ve known that for some time, seeing how the legendary actor confirmed the casting himself. This casting has generally been received positively, with some fans worrying about Lithgow’s age.
Not long after Lithgow’s confirmation, rumors about Janet McTeer and Paapa Essiedu being near a deal to appear as Minerva McGonagall and Severus Snape, respectively, appeared, and we can confirm that both of them have been confirmed for their respective roles.
Another subsequent rumor tied Nick Frost to the role of Rubeus Hagrid, and while the actor himself played coy about being cast, he has also been confirmed today. This is also a casting that has been welcomed by the fans.
As for the two other confirmations, they are new. We can confirm that Luke Thallon has been cast as Quirinus Quirrell, a very important character from the first book but not a character that we will see later. On the other hand, the character of Argus Filch will be present in later seasons as well, and we can confirm that Paul Whitehouse has been cast in the role.
