Harvey Dent Has Officially Been Cast in ‘The Batman Part II’
A new update about The Batman Part II is getting a lot of attention, especially because of who is joining the cast. According to a report by Deadline Hollywood, Sebastian Stan has been cast as Harvey Dent.
This is a big addition to the film. Harvey Dent is a major character in Batman stories, known for eventually becoming Two-Face. Fans have been waiting to see how this version of the character will fit into Matt Reeves’ darker take on Gotham.
The same report also confirms that Andy Serkis is coming back as Alfred Pennyworth. He played Bruce Wayne’s butler in the first film, and his return helps keep continuity with Robert Pattinson’s Batman. Filming is expected to start in London in June.
Serkis recently spoke about the project while doing press, saying, “I’m pretty certain it’s all going to work out. Yeah, we’re working on it, but I think it’s all looking good.” He also added that he “won’t be joining them immediately,” but “by the end of the year, I will be.”
Even with Serkis balancing another project, the new The Batman Part II is clearly moving forward. But the biggest talking point right now is Sebastian Stan stepping into the role of Harvey Dent, which could play a major part in shaping the story.
The Batman Part II is currently set to arrive in theaters on October 1, 2027. Matt Reeves is coming back to direct and co-write the script with Mattson Tomlin.
Several familiar faces are returning. Robert Pattinson will once again play Batman, alongside Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin. Barry Keoghan is also expected to return as the Joker. On top of that, Scarlett Johansson has joined the cast in a role that hasn’t been revealed yet.
This time, the story will spend more time with Bruce Wayne himself, not just Batman. The plot follows him as he looks into a new case that digs deeper into the corruption and divisions inside Gotham. The events of the first film and the Penguin series will carry over into this story.
The sequel was first announced back in April 2022, but it faced several delays, mainly because of the 2023 Hollywood strikes. During that time, Reeves continued working on the script, which was finally finished in June 2025.
Filming is planned to begin at the end of May 2026. Production will take place at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, as well as in Liverpool and Glasgow. Luke Hull is handling production design, and Erik Messerschmidt will serve as the cinematographer.
