‘Hawkeye’ Star Hailee Steinfeld’s ‘Tonight Show’ Look Has Fans Swooning, and Her Fallon Chat Was Just as Memorable
It has been a whirlwind stretch for Hailee Steinfeld, and her latest ‘Tonight Show’ visit captured just how much has changed for the star. After dating for years, she married Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen in May 2025 in Santa Barbara, and in April 2026 she confirmed the birth of their first child, a baby girl named Harper.
Her career has kept pace with her personal milestones. Steinfeld appeared in Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’, which went on to win 4 Oscars, and she now leads Disney’s animated feature ‘Hexed’, voicing Billie, a teenager who discovers she has secret magical abilities and is swept out of suburbia into a vast witch realm called Hexe.
That busy chapter brought her to Studio 6B, and fans are still talking about the look she wore there. On October 17, JumpTrailers shared a portrait captioned simply as Hailee Steinfeld for The Tonight Show, showing the actress with voluminous, glossy waves and a dark velvet high-neck top.
The outfit matched what viewers saw on air, as clips from the interview show Steinfeld in a burgundy velvet dress seated across from Fallon against the show’s glowing New York skyline backdrop. Her episode, which also featured Daniel Kaluuya, Justin Verlander and Magnus Ferrell, first aired on September 29 and returned to NBC on October 15.

Steinfeld was there primarily to promote ‘Hexed’, and the film clearly carries personal weight for her. She explained to Fallon that she began working on the project while pregnant and wrapped it after her baby arrived, describing the whole experience as a truly transformative period in her life.
She also told the host that being part of an original Disney film felt like a dream come true and that she jumped at the chance. The voice cast includes Rashida Jones, Jodie Foster, Walton Goggins, Tracey Ullman and Stephen Fry, and the film hits theaters on November 25.
Naturally, Fallon couldn’t resist asking about the rumors linking her to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. When he pointed out that her name hadn’t appeared in the film’s chair-based cast promo, Steinfeld joked that she hadn’t spotted it either, adding that Allen had recently called to ask if she was in it and she told him she honestly had no idea.

The chatter has been building for a while. Steinfeld made her Marvel debut as Kate Bishop in 2021’s ‘Hawkeye’ and returned for a brief post-credits cameo in 2023’s ‘The Marvels’, while a fan at the Mexican premiere of ‘Sinners’ previously caught her appearing to nod when asked about a return. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arrives in theaters on December 18.
The interview also leaned into her life as an NFL wife. During a round of ‘Don’t Say the Same Thing’, both Steinfeld and Fallon answered Josh Allen when the category was NFL quarterbacks, prompting her to playfully ask whether there were any others.

When Fallon brought up the Bills’ 3-0 start to the season, Steinfeld admitted the couple can be a little superstitious about game days. Her support didn’t stop at late night, either, as she was spotted enthusiastically cheering from a private suite during the Bills’ 37-34 overtime win on October 12.
