HBO Brings Back Hit Crime Drama for Season 2
HBO has confirmed that the crime drama Task will return for a second season. Fans of the show will be happy to know that Mark Ruffalo is coming back to play FBI agent Tom Brandis.
The renewal was announced during a press event in New York, where HBO and HBO Max Content chairman and CEO Casey Bloys shared the news.
“We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have HBO’s unwavering support of ‘Task’ from the very first script onwards, throughout production, and during their extraordinary launch of our first season to audiences,” said Brad Ingelsby, the creator and showrunner of the series.
“They are an unmatched creative home. On behalf of the entire ‘Task’ team, in front of and behind the camera, I am honored and excited to get back to work on a second season of our show.”
Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO Programming, also praised the show and its creator. “We knew well in advance of its launch that we had a powerful drama series on our hands, but it has been so rewarding to witness the audience’s fervor and embrace of this show as it grew week after week. Rarely does a writer balance humanistic storytelling with intricate, explosive plotting but Brad Ingelsby is one of our industry’s greats and we have no doubt he will strike as profoundly and addictively once again in season two.”
The first season of Task received strong praise from both critics and viewers. With its mix of intense crime storylines and deep character work, it quickly became one of HBO’s standout dramas. The second season promises to continue exploring the tense and gripping cases led by Ruffalo’s character.
