HBO Reveals the First Teaser for ‘The Last of Us’ TV Series
We’re living in a time when we’re getting more and more movie or TV adaptations of known video games. Earlier this year, Sony filmed the Uncharted movie, based on Naughty Dog’s homonymous video game series starring Tom Holland in the role of Nathan Drake. The sequel to Uncharted is currently in development, and one more famous video game from Naughty Dog is now getting a TV adaptation.
The Last of Us is an action-adventure developed by Naughty Dog and released by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game achieved huge success and it’s deemed one of the best video games of its generation. The game is set in a world where an outbreak of mutant Cordyceps fungus ravages and follows two main characters Joel and Ellie, who will be portrayed in the upcoming TV adaptation by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, respectively.
Today, HBO revealed the first official teaser for the upcoming series:
The Last of Us video game was first released in 2013 for PlayStation 3. One year later, the game was remastered for PlayStation 4, and this year it received a remake titled The Last of Us Part 1, which was released for PlayStation 5, and it is expected to be released for PC soon. The sequel to the game, The Last of Us Part II, was first released in June 2020 for PlayStation 4. Just like the original, the sequel also received universal acclaim and it’s called one of the best video games of all time. The sequel also holds the record for most Game of the Year awards.
The Last of Us TV adaptation is developed by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for HBO. The series is starring The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, and Anna Torv also star.
The Last of Us is set to premiere on HBO and HBOMax in 2023.
