HBO Set to Reimagine Popular Netflix Series
HBO is developing an American version of the hit French series Call My Agent, Variety reports. The new adaptation will move the story from a Parisian talent agency to a sports agency, following the lives of four busy sports agents as they juggle demanding careers and personal challenges.
The original show, which premiered in 2015 in France as Dix pour cent, became a global success after Netflix acquired it and renamed it Call My Agent.
The series focuses on the personal and professional lives of a close-knit, sometimes chaotic group of talent agents in Paris. Its original cast included Camille Cottin, Thibault de Montalembert, Grégory Montel, Liliane Rovère, Fanny Sidney, Laure Calamy, Nicolas Maury, and Stéfi Celma.
According to HBO’s official description, the American version will follow, “Four work-obsessed sports agents struggle to balance their personal lives and their clients’ needs in an industry where, more and more, it feels like being an athlete is just the start.”
Sarah Schneider, co-creator of The Other Two, will write and serve as executive producer on the project. She will work with Plan B and Fulwell Entertainment’s SpringHill Studios to bring the adaptation to HBO.
The HBO series will be the latest international remake of Call My Agent, which has already been adapted in countries such as Turkey, India, Germany, the U.K., and Korea. A Chinese version is also reportedly in development.
