‘Heavenly Delusion’: Did Maru Kill Inazaki?
As fans will know, Heavenly Delusion is a very peculiar manga and anime series. It combines many known elements but still manages to create a uniquely special story that has captured the attention of fans worldwide. The first season is, sadly, over, and while the series is reportedly going to come back, it might be a while before we see Maru and Kiruko again, as the manga is still being published. But, the first season provided us with many impressive moments, and in this article, we will discuss the repercussions of the first season’s most complex scene. In this article, you will find out whether Maru killed Robin Inazaki after what he did to Kiruko.
No, Maru did not kill Robin, as was confirmed. He overpowered him and would have killed him had Kiruko not pleaded with him to spare his life. Robin turned out to be a vile villain, and he managed to escape the facility after almost being killed by Maru, leaving a twisted experiment behind. Maru promised himself that if he were to meet him ever again, he would kill him without a doubt, regardless of Kiruko, and Robin would definitely deserve it for what he had done.
The rest of this article will focus on the confrontation between Maru and Robin in the Heavenly Delusion series. The importance of these two characters cannot really be overstated, but this particular confrontation was a pivotal moment in their development as characters, and it was also one of the most important moments from the first season of the series. That is why we have decided to tell you everything you need to know about it. Although, we must warn you that this article will contain some spoilers from the Heavenly Delusion manga, so be careful how you approach it.
Kiruko begged Maru not to kill Robin, but she later cut her ties with him completely
Fans of Heavenly Delusion will know that the manga definitely has one of the more intriguing stories out there since every character and aspect of Ishiguro’s world is a story of its own, has a frightening background, and is extremely likable.
The general idea of the world created by Ishiguro is that it operates in a strange reality where everything seems normal – in the context of its post-apocalyptic setting – but is actually weird and full of mysteries. But, aside from these mysteries, the world of the series has also given us some very traumatic and tragic events and one of them will be the topic of this article, as we will analyze the consequences of Robin’s sexual assault on Kiruko.
Kiruko is, as everyone knows, the protagonist of the story. She is Maru’s bodyguard and is escorting him to Heaven, wherever and whatever that place might be. But, aside from that, she was also looking for the doctor who operated on her and turned her into Kiruko, as well as a seemingly dear childhood friend, Robin Inazaki, who cared for Haruki and Kiriko when they were orphans.
And while Kiruko is searching for him for the whole season, she finally manages to find him near the season’s end, which is when things become complicated. Kiruko is overjoyed to have met Robin, but Robin doesn’t seem to be that thrilled. He does talk to her, but during the night, as she is taking a bath, he hides her clothes and tells her to come to the room, where it is warm, like that. There, he ties her hands and proceeds to rape her.
As if the assault itself wasn’t enough, Robin simultaneously forced Kiruko to look at herself in the mirror, stating that Haruki (the mind) had to watch someone else touch his sister (the body). The scene was horrible, and it was one of the most shocking moments in the whole series, if not the most shocking one. We don’t know why Robin did it, as the reasons behind it were not presented, but since Robin ran away soon after, we assume he might appear again. So, what happened next?
While Kiruko was talking to Robin, Maru worried about her. He stated that she did not tell him when she would be back, but at one point, he himself realized that it was taking her too long. Suspecting that something was wrong, he went to check for himself.
The guards tried to stop him, revealing that Robin called Kiruko (referring to Kiriko) his old fling, but Maru easily kicked their butts and proceeded. He found the naked, tied-up Kiruko and saw Robin, who was bringing tea and some food to her. Realizing what had happened, he went after Robin, who instinctively started to run away.
Robin told him that he knew about him from Kiruko and asked whether Kiruko sexually pleased him as well, but Maru was quiet and simply kept staring at one point. Robin did not know what was happening and tried to escape, but Maru would pull him back and push him into the wall every time.
After Robin tried to attack him, Maru punched him into the wall, injured his head (which started bleeding), and then punched him in the face with the intent to kill him. Kiruko managed to free herself and came to a stop for him; Maru listened to her and stopped hitting Robin.
We later found out that Kiruko cut all ties with Robin, but also that Robin actually escaped. We don’t know what happened to him later, but he may appear again later in the story. Be that as it may, Maru listened to Kiruko this time, but he promised himself that he would if he ever saw Robin again, kill him for sure that time.
