Skyrim: Here’s How To Complete Bound Until Death Without Earning a Bounty

Dark Brotherhood is among the most popular factions in all Elder Scrolls games. Even though nothing can top the moment of shock and disbelief when Lucien Lachance asks you to “purify” the Cheydinhall sanctuary, Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim also has its good moments. One of those great and memorable moments is when you get tasked with assassinating THE emperor Titus Mede II. Of course, before you straight up murder the emperor, several quests serve as a preparation for the act itself. One of those quests is “Bound Until Death,” in which you are tasked with assassinating the emperor’s cousin, Vittoria Vici, on her wedding day. One of the most common questions players have when it comes to Bound Until Death is how in Talos’ name do you do it without getting a bounty?
How to start Bound Until Death quest in Skyrim?
Before Bound Until Death is started, you will need to complete the quest The Silence Has Been Broken, during which you will find out that Amaund Motierre wants you to assassinate the emperor of Tamriel, Titus Mede II. Before the act itself can be done, you need to prepare the ground for the assassination by placing several misdirections and weakening the emperor’s security. Assassinating Vittoria Vici at her own wedding serves as a misdirection where everyone will assume that it’s related to the civil war between Stormcloaks and the Imperial Empire.
Anyway, after you’ve completed The Silence Has Been Broken and Radiant quest, make your way to Astrid, who will send you to the courtyard of the Temple of the Divines in Solitude, where the wedding will happen. You can speak to your fellow Dark Brotherhood members in order to get advice on alternative methods on how to kill Vittoria Vici.
Babette will tell you about the gargoyle and it is the preferred method of solving this quest. Gabriella also gives you a piece of great advice on how to assassinate Vittoria with a long-range shot.
One minor side quest called “The Spiced Wine” becomes permanently unavailable if you kill Vittoria Vici before completing it.
What is the best way to kill Vittoria Vici?
The best way to Kill Vittoria Vici is to crush her with the gargoyle, to do that follow these steps.
- Make your way to the courtyard of the Temple of the Divines in Solitude.
- Enter the temple, make a right turn and go up the stairs, pass through the kitchen, and make another right turn. You should see the door in front of you.
- When you exit through the door, you should find yourself one level above the balcony where Vittoria Vici will address the crowd.
- Reach the stone gargoyle and wait for her to start speaking to the wedding guests.
- As soon as she starts talking, activate the gargoyle that is supposed to crush her. You should hear the sounds of stone being crushed as well as commotion as guests realize that Vittoria has been killed.
- Whatever way you decide to kill Vittoria, the guests will nearly instantly become hostile toward you. Either fast travel (if you want to avoid bounty) or use Veezara as a distraction and escape Solitude as soon as possible.
How do you get the bonus in Bound Until Death?
You get the bonus by killing Vittoria while she is addressing the wedding guests. The reward for simply killing her is a Summon Spectral Assassin spell, which allows you to summon legendary assassin Lucien Lachance to fight by your side. If you, however, kill Vittoria while she is addressing the guests, you will earn a bonus from Astrid as well.
The bonus is nothing special; it includes a leveled amount of gold. So if you’re in a hurry and want to kill Vittoria without much fuss and effort, forfeiting the bonus will not cost you anything special, but you will be in quite the trouble when it comes to bounty and hostilities around you.
And that’s it; we’ve pretty much covered the whole quest and given you a detailed walkthrough on how to kill Vittoria Vici without earning a bounty and how to earn your bonus. When it comes to bonus reward, as we’ve already mentioned, it’s nothing special, so going through a lot of trouble to kill her stealthy doesn’t have much value except when it comes to the role-play element.
