“Avengers: Doomsday” is set to be the fifth Avengers movie and the 39th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.
It features a massive ensemble cast including Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., and many more. In the movie, the Avengers team up with the Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, and the original X-Men to face Doctor Doom, played by Downey.
The film went through several changes during development. Originally, “The Kang Dynasty” was planned to conclude Phase Six, but after director and cast changes, the Russos returned as directors, Downey was cast as Doctor Doom, and the film was retitled “Doomsday.” Filming began in April at Pinewood Studios in England and wrapped in September, with additional locations in Bahrain.
“Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled for release in the United States on December 18, 2026, and will be followed by “Secret Wars” on December 17, 2027. The story takes place fourteen months after the events of “Thunderbolts” and brings together multiple superhero teams to confront a new global threat.
