Homeland Stars Claire Danes and Damian Lewis Remind Timothée Chalamet Who Made Him
The Actor Awards featured a playful blast from the past on Sunday night as Claire Danes and Damian Lewis reunited to claim credit for one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. The former Homeland leads took the stage at the Shrine Auditorium to present the award for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series, but they couldn’t resist a detour into their own show’s history.
Holding hands as they approached the mic, the pair reminded the audience that Timothée Chalamet, now a 30-year-old Oscar frontrunner, got his start as a recurring teenager in the second season of their CIA thriller.
During their presentation, Lewis jokingly questioned Danes about whether Homeland ever secured a win in the ensemble category. No, no, it did not, Danes replied, adding that they were back specifically to request a rematch.
Lewis chimed in by playfully dismissing the shows that defeated them in the past, such as Downton Abbey and Breaking Bad, before turning his attention toward Chalamet, who was sitting in the audience as a nominee for the film Marty Supreme.

Danes pointed out that their cast was filled with heavy hitters, but she saved her best punchline for the Dune star. We even had Timothée Chalamet on our show. Where do you think he learned how to handle the stress of a Safdie movie? she asked the crowd.
Lewis then doubled down on the joke with a mock-threatening message for his former young co-star. We made you, Timothée. Just saying. And we’re ready for a recount, he added.
The moment was a full-circle highlight for Chalamet, who later took the stage with his own ensemble cast to introduce their film. Long before he was leading billion-dollar franchises, he played Finn Walden, the Vice President’s son and a tragic love interest, in a 2012 arc on Homeland.
At the 2013 ceremony, a teenage Chalamet actually shared in the show’s ensemble nomination, though they ultimately lost the trophy to the Crawley family of Downton Abbey. The lighthearted “feud” comes at a time when Chalamet is reaching new heights in his professional life.
He is currently the man of the hour following the release of the Josh Safdie-directed Marty Supreme, where he stars as ping-pong legend Marty Mauser. The A24 film has been a massive critical and commercial success, earning Chalamet a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy earlier this year and placing him in a strong position for the upcoming Academy Awards on March 15.
Chalamet’s schedule for the remainder of the year is equally high-stakes. He is set to return to the desert this December for the release of Dune: Part Three, the final chapter in Denis Villeneuve’s epic sci-fi trilogy based on Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah.
The film will see him reprise his role as Paul Atreides alongside returning stars Zendaya and Florence Pugh, with Robert Pattinson reportedly joining the cast in a major new role. In addition to his blockbusters, Chalamet is currently developing a new thriller titled High Side with director James Mangold, which will see him portraying a former MotoGP racer.
He has also been active as a producer, earning a Best Picture nomination this year for his work on Marty Supreme. Between his blockbuster finales and his continued dominance in independent cinema, the actor has certainly moved far beyond his days at the Walden dinner table—though his Homeland family clearly won’t let him forget where it all began.
