Dan Ziskie passed away at the age of 80, according to his family, Ziskie died on July 21 in New York from arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The family shared a heartfelt tribute, saying, “Dan was a man of remarkable talent and a keen observer of life. He was as vibrant and multifaceted as the characters he portrayed on stage and screen.”

Ziskie had a career that spanned over four decades, appearing in a wide variety of television series. He was best known for his roles in Netflix’s House of Cards and HBO’s Treme. Fans also saw him in the Spectrum miniseries The Bite in 2021. He made countless guest appearances on shows like American Playhouse, Remington Steele, Newhart, St. Elsewhere, ER, Sex and the City, The West Wing, Law & Order: SVU, NCIS, and The Blacklist, showcasing his versatility as a character actor.

Among his more prominent roles, Ziskie starred in a three-season, 18-episode arc on Treme starting in 2011. He played C.J. Liquori, a New Orleans construction magnate and political fundraiser, often working alongside Jon Seda’s character, Nelson Hidalgo, as they navigated the rebuilding of the city after Hurricane Katrina.

His family reflected on his life and career, writing, “His was a life lived with passion, a life that exemplified the beauty of pursuing one’s dreams and the importance of cherishing every moment. Dan will be profoundly missed, yet he will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him, like a cherished character in the timeless narrative of their lives.”

Ziskie is survived by his brother David and his wife Cynthia, along with his nephews Jesse, Brett, and Austin, and their six children. His work and presence on screen left a lasting mark on audiences and colleagues alike.
