Former hitman John Wick has just lost his wife Helen, who died of an undisclosed illness. Posthumously, he receives a Beagle puppy from her on the day of the funeral as a gift, along with a letter in which she informs him that she will leave him the puppy named Daisy so that he can cope with his loss and love something again.
The next day, John drives his Ford Mustang out to get dog food. At a gas station he meets three Russian gang members. Their leader, Iosef, admires John’s car and wants to buy it. However, John refuses and drives away. The three Russians follow him home, break into it that night and brutally beat John up. He has to watch helplessly as they mistreat Daisy before he is knocked unconscious. When he wakes up the next morning, Daisy, who has dragged herself to him seriously injured, is dead and his Ford Mustang is stolen.
The following day, Iosef brings the car to Aurelio’s workshop, whose owner specializes in new vehicle identities for stolen cars, among other things. Aurelio recognizes whose car Iosef brought him and refuses to give the car a new chassis number. During the ensuing discussion, Aurelio knocks down Iosef and sends him away despite his threats. John later visits Aurelio and asks about his car. Aurelio explains that the car was with him and that it was Iosef, the son of Viggo Tarasov, the leader of a Russian criminal syndicate, who stole the Mustang.
Viggo demands an explanation from Aurelio as to why he hit his son, and also beats Iosef when he confronts him and realizes what he has done. He explains to Iosef that John Wick used to work for him as a killer. John stopped working as a professional killer when he fell in love with a woman. In order to be able to leave Viggo’s services in peace, he had previously helped Viggo to take control of the syndicates by single-handedly completing an “impossible mission” within one day: Viggo’s position of power is based on the massacre that John then caused to this day .
Viggo wants to protect his son from John’s revenge and tries to talk to John, but in vain. Viggo then instructs his consigliere Avi to send some of his men to John’s home to eliminate him. However, John, who previously unearthed his hidden weapons and gold supplies, takes out Viggo’s men without major problems. Viggo then puts a $ 2 million bounty on John and offers this amount to Marcus, a Vietnam war veteran and John’s mentor. Marcus apparently agrees.
Meanwhile, John checks into the Continental Hotel. It is primarily professional killers who stay there, and the rule is that no orders may be carried out within the Continental. When Viggo learns of John’s whereabouts, he doubles the bounty in case someone is willing to break this rule. Meanwhile, John learns from Winston, the owner of the hotel, where Viggo’s son is staying. John drives to the club where Iosef is having fun, kills his friend Victor and most of the security guards, but loses sight of Iosef in the fight with Kirill – one of the bodyguards.
John returns to the Continental to have his wounds taken care of by the hotel doctor on call. Ms. Perkins, a former accomplice and also a professional killer, awaits him there. She wants to kill John in his sleep. Marcus, who has John in his sights with a sniper rifle and had only pretended to accept the bounty, shoots the pillow next to his face to wake him up. John is able to overpower Perkins and learns from her the hiding place of Viggo’s money – an Orthodox church. While he is on his way there, he leaves Perkins with Harry, another guest of the hotel. He should guard her and later release ger. But she can free herself unnoticed and kills Harry.
In the church, Viggo’s money is burned and the media stored there that contain priceless documents that Viggo has on powerful people. Viggo and his men come to the church and eventually overwhelm John. He tries to persuade John to come back to him as a professional killer. When the latter refuses, Viggo leaves the church and instructs Kirill and his men to kill John. However, Marcus takes care of one of Kirill’s men so that John can free himself and kill Kirill. In the end, John finds out from Viggo where the safe house in which Iosef is hiding is. He goes there and kills his guards and him.
Meanwhile, Perkins reports to Viggo about the contact between John and Marcus. Viggo has Marcus kidnapped, tortured and finally kills him. Viggo tells John that he killed Marcus and tries to lure him to his home, where Perkins should be waiting for him. However, she is intercepted by Winston and executed as a punishment for breaking the rules of the Continental. Winston contacts John and tells him where to find Viggo. When they meet, Viggo and John have a final fight, in which Viggo dies and John is badly wounded. When John drives Viggo’s SUV into a wall, he gets out and watches a video of himself and his wife Helen on the cell phone. He breaks into a veterinary clinic and treats his wounds there. He then takes a Pit Bull puppy with him and goes for a walk to where he had his last date with Helen.

A few days after John Wick killed the Russian mafia boss Viggo Tarasov and his son Iosef, John finds out that his Ford Mustang is in Abram Tarasov’s workshop. This is where stolen cars are dismantled and the individual parts are resold. Tarasov is the brother of Viggo and the uncle of Iosef. John takes his vehicle back and kills numerous men of Tarasov’s. Then he goes to Tarasov and offers him peace, which Tarasov accepts.
He has Aurelio repair his badly damaged vehicle and again seals his weapons and equipment under the floor at home in order to resume his interrupted retirement. Meanwhile, Santino D’Antonio, an Italian mafioso, and a former client, visits him and demands the redemption of a debt coin. John once drew this with his blood so that Santino would help him leave the organization.
When John refuses to help and cites his retirement, Santino blows up John’s house with a grenade launcher. John then goes to the Continental, where its manager Winston reminds him of the two inviolable rules of the underworld: No “business” on the property of the Continental hotel, and debt coins must be redeemed.
So John meets with Santino again and accepts the assignment: He is supposed to kill Santino’s sister Gianna in Rome, whose seat in the High Table of the Twelve Council, the worldwide criminal syndicate, Santino envies and claims for herself. In the Roman Continental, John is met by the manager Julius and is equipped with weapons and bulletproof clothing. He expects Gianna in her bathroom, but she wants to die and cuts her wrists.
John withdraws and is met by Cassian, Gianna’s bodyguard. During a wild shooting and escape through the catacombs, Santino’s people suddenly appear with their leader Ares, who is also supposed to kill John. John is able to kill most of the attackers and finally gets into a duel with Cassian, which ends with both breaking through a glass door into the Continental and having to stop their fighting there due to the rules.
After a drink together at the hotel bar, Cassian promises to take revenge for Gianna’s death. While John returns to New York, Santino launches a $ 7 million killing contract with the organization for the murder of his sister. All the killers who get the job on their mobile phones hunt down John, who takes refuge in a subway station and can gradually kill all the attackers.
In a subway, there is another duel with Cassian, during which John rams his knife into Cassian’s body, seriously injuring him but leaving him alive. Exhausted and injured, John accepts the help of the underworld boss Bowery King, who reports to a network of beggars across New York. He has him treated and gives him a gun with seven cartridges, which symbolize the bounty, as well as information about Santino’s whereabouts.
In Santino’s Museum, where his admission to the Council of Twelve is to take place, John first kills Santinos men and pursues him into a cabinet of mirrors. His bodyguard Ares stands in John’s way while Santino takes refuge in the Continental. John incapacitates Ares and follows Santino to the hotel. He provokes John that he cannot harm him here. Despite Winston’s attempt to stop John, the latter kills Santino with a shot in the head and leaves the hotel with his dog.
The next day, Charon, the hotel receptionist, takes John to Central Park, where Winston is waiting for him. He reveals that the Camorra doubled its bounty to 14 million for the murder of Santino and expanded it to the entire world. In addition, he loses all privileges and access to the underworld resources because of his rule violation. Winston gives him a coin and promises to hold off the job for another hour.
John leaves with the message that he will kill anyone who tries to kill him. Knowing that he will soon be hunted, he runs off through the park with his dog while the organization’s killing assignment is distributed to the cell phones of its hired killers.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

Composer: Tyler Bates, Joel J. Richards
Runtime: 131 minutes

Starring: Keanu Reeves (Jardani Jovonovich / John ‘The Boogeyman’ Wick), Halle Berry (Sofia Al-Azwar), Ian McShane (Winston), Laurence Fishburne (“The Bowery King”), Anjelica Huston (“The Director”), Robin Lord Taylor (“Administrator”)
After John Wick killed Santino D’Antonio in the Continental, he is on the run through New York. Since a bounty of 14 million US dollars was initially placed on him and he forfeited all privileges that had been granted to him as a member of the Continental through the murder of D’Antonio, he now tries to get out of New York City escape.
He reaches the city library and takes a rosary with an “exchange medallion” from a hidden book. In the library, John is attacked by an assassin before the deadline given to him, but whom he is able to defeat, even if seriously injured. John rushes to a well-known doctor who treats his injury.
At 6 p.m. sharp, he was “excommunicated” and all the killers in town were hunting him. On the run from assassins, he fights his way to the Tarkovsky Theater, where he visits the director, a woman from the past who accepts the crucifix as a ticket for the safe passage to Essaouira near Casablanca in Morocco.
Meanwhile, a High Table judge meets with Winston, the manager of the Continental, and the Bowery King, the leader of a network of tramp assassins. The judge accuses them of having helped John Wick in the murder of Santino D’Antonio and admonishes both of them to give up their offices in seven days, otherwise, they will face serious consequences.
In Casablanca, John first meets killers who want to kill him, but the concierge calls back at the request of Sofia, a former friend and manager of the Casablanca Continental. He asks Sofia to help him by taking him to the Elder, a high-ranking member of the High Table, so that he can request his bounty waiver.
Sofia wants to refuse, but John has a piece of debt from her. She takes him to an assassin named Berrada, who tells John that he can find the elder by wandering the desert until he can no longer walk. In exchange for this information, he asked for one of Sofia’s armored fighting dogs. When Sofia refuses, he shoots the dog.
In a fit of rage, Sofia shoots Berrada in the leg, and the duo, along with the fighting dogs, fight their way out of the kasbah and flee into the desert. Sofia has redeemed her debt and leaves John in the desert. He roams the desert until he collapses from exhaustion but is found by the elder’s men. Explaining his actions, John says he desperately wants to move on in order to keep the memory of the love he once had for his wife.
The elder agrees to forgive John, but only if he murders Winston and works for the Chamber until his death. To show his commitment and loyalty to the Chamber, John cuts off his ring finger and gives the elder his wedding ring. In the meantime, the judge recruits the assassin Zero and his students to enforce the will of the High Table.
With the help of Zero, she finds the headmistress and the Bowery King guilty. As punishment, both are mutilated, the latter so badly that he almost succumbs to his wounds. John comes back to New York City and is followed by Zero’s men, but can escape to the Continental and ask for asylum there. He meets with Winston, who encourages John not to die as a murderer but as a man who loved his wife and was loved by her.
The arbitral tribunal joins in, but Winston refuses to leave office and John refuses to kill Winston. As a result, the judge has the Continental “secularized”, which allows killing within the building. Zero and his men, as well as two buses with armored enforcers as support, are sent. After they kill almost all of the hotel’s staff, John and the concierge Charon can defeat the enforcers with shotguns and armor-piercing ammunition.
John is then ambushed by Zero’s students. He kills all but two who were the only ones who fought him respectfully. In the ensuing duel, Zero is killed by John. The judge negotiates with Winston, who declares the resistance a show of strength and offers his loyalty to the Chamber. When John arrives, Winston apparently shoots him, causing John to fall from the roof of the Continental. The hotel reopens, but the arbitration tribunal informs Winston that John’s body has disappeared and that he is still a threat to both of them.
The wounded John Wick is extradited to the severely scarred Bowery King, who tells him that he is angry with the High Chamber and will fight them. He asks John if he’s feeling the same, and John agrees.
