V Rising has been absolutely killing it on its Early Access launch on Steam, sending the entire gaming community into a frenzy. The game has gained a massive audience within a remarkably short time span. It didn’t last though, since updated fresh numbers show an altogether different picture. Leading many people to wonder just how many players V Rising actually has.

As of Janaury 2023, V rising has an average concurrent player number of around 3 thousand players. The all-time high was in May 2022 when V rising hit 150,645 active players according to Steam Charts. Other numbers indicate that the game has been rapidly losing its player base.

While the numbers may feel shocking, it’s really no surprise when taking a closer look at everything V Rising has to offer. Stick around to find out about V Rising, how quickly it gained popularity since its release and how quickly it managed to lose it, and just how many people play V Rising.

V Rising’s Instant Success

Vampires and mystical dark themes have been classic hits for ages, but it’s safe to say that there hasn’t really been too much action in this department for gamers in recent years. V Rising has definitely taken the world by storm, slipping onto the scene alongside the likes of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt, destined to remind fellow fiction fans and gamers that vampires are still cool!

“Awaken as a weakened Vampire after centuries of slumber in a world full of danger. Stripped from your unholy powers and starving for blood – you must hunt to regain your strength and fight for survival…Hunt for blood in nearby settlements to regain your strength while hiding from the scorching sun to survive.”

This isometric game was created and developed by Stunlock Studios, previously known for Battlerite, and is set in a world where vampires take the center stage. In V Rising, players begin their journeys as weakened vampires, after which they have the opportunity to rise in power – and potentially become the next Dracula!

“Explore a vast open-world together with friends or hunt solo as you pillage villages, raid bandit camps, and traverse the territories of supernatural beasts. Rebuild your castle and convert humans into loyal servants in a quest to raise your vampire empire. Make allies online and wage war against other players in a world of conflict.”

V Rising is still in Steam Early Access, with a full release expected within the next 12 months.

The gaming community doesn’t have much to go by, other than the game’s official descriptions and snippets of content provided by Early Access V Rising players. Still, what we do know is that there has to be something truly magical and unique about this game – it’s not every day that we see a previously ‘under-the-radar game that just dominates the playing field out of nowhere.

There are a ton of vampire-themed games for PC, all of which deserve credit in their own rights. But, if the numbers and community feedback on social media platforms are anything to go by, V Rising really seems to be biting down on the genre’s global audience.

How Many People Play V Rising In 2023?

Currently, V rising has an average of 3 thousand active players within both the last 24 hours and the last 7 days. It’s a sharp decline from the previous all-time-high number that happened in May.

This gothic, open-world survival game revolves around vampires and was released on Steam Early Access on May 17th, 2022 (it’s still going to be quite some time before the game is fully released, as there is no official release date just yet). Still, based on the responses from the community and the total sales on the launch V Rising was a massive success. Was.

It may come as a surprise in hindsight, but V Rising actually didn’t have too much hype before its release. Similar to other hit titles like Among Us, Valheim, and Phasmophobia, V Rising seemed to skyrocket from its very first steps with barely any hype phase pre-launch – as such, many gamers feel like V Rising has come out of absolutely nowhere and completely stolen the show!

Stunlock Studios announced that V Rising had over 1 million purchases in their May developer blog, also noting that the game had an all-time peak of around 150,000 players in that month. It was also the highest and only peak ever recorded to date. The devs took the time to show their immense gratitude to the gaming community who has supported them, stating:

“We put so much love, time, sweat, and blood into this experience without knowing if you will feel what we feel. You did! Tuesday last week, we announced that one million players had bought V Rising, and, at that time, we were already completely floored by seeing more than 150k vampires at the same time in our game.”

While it’s very clear that the developers were absolutely touched and happy about the responses, the game’s success did catch Stunlock Studios off guard. They really did not anticipate such a positive and responding response from the global gaming community, let alone the number of players their game would gain so quickly! The devs also shared their gratitude on Twitter, stating:

By the end of May 2022, V Rising had gained an additional 500,000 purchases, taking the total player base up to 1.5 million worldwide. Again, Stunlock Studios shared this momentous achievement with the community on Twitter, stating:

The specific player count figures discussed in the developer’s blogs and social media posts directly mirrored the player count reports from other sources as well. This means that while these figures are incredibly high, they are undeniably accurate.

V Rising Player Count & User Stats 2023

Currently, around 3 thousand players play V rising at any given time. Which is a sharp decline from the launch that has seen a massive influx of new players at the time of release. It’s nothing to be shocked about since early-access hype rarely lasts.

V Rising rocketed to the top spot on Steam’s Global Top Sellers list only a few days after its Early Access release. According to Games Radar, around 500,000 V Rising copies were sold in just 3 days post-Early Access release – and this was only the beginning!

This game actually managed to beat now-iconic titles such as Elden Ring towards the end of May 2022.

But, the current numbers show an altogether different, more depressing story. All Twitch reported stats show a massive decline from the last reported peak since the last time this article was updated (January 2023)

V Rising has been out for a few months now and the developed hype wasn’t sustainable. Not without regular fresh content coming out, and the release date is still uncertain.

Current state of V rising, January 2022

At the time of writing, V Rising has 3,003 players with a 24-hour peak of 5,816 players and an all-time peak of 150,645 players, according to Steam Charts.

Why was V Rising so popular?

Considering the awesome blend of aspects and gaming elements that V Rising flaunts, it’s really not a shocker that it’s gained such an immense following. The game boasted classic and traditional survival game elements, perfectly balanced with a Diablo-styled ARPG combat – sure to create a unique gaming experience for anyone willing to sink their teeth in.

Although it’s clear that V Rising gained enormous momentum and traction throughout the gaming community in its early days – there was a chance that V Rising could be a flash in the pan. And that’s exactly what happened, at least according to the reported numbers.

Considering the fact that Stunlock Studios was not prepared for such massive and almost instant player gains, they feel that there is quite a lot of work to be done before the game can be fully launched. The developers have plans to improve various elements of the game to prepare it for even more players after its official launch, including aspects like moderating, censoring, in-game elements, and much more.

Either way, the best way to find out what all the rage is about is to try out V Rising for yourself! Stunlock Studios aims to fully release V Rising within the next 12 months or so, leaving plenty of time to really get a feel for any V Rising content currently available through Early Access.
